Richard Dennis Hockaday, 57, a lifelong resident of Granville County, passed away unexpectedly Monday, January 2, 2012 at his home.

A native of Granville County, the son of the late Willoughby and Thelma Hedgepeth Hockaday.  He was a member of Living Word Baptist Church and employed with Brown Brothers Plumbing and Heating, Inc. in Durham.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:30 PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Living Word Baptist Church by Rev. Wesley Holder.  Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
 

Surviving are his wife of thirty seven years, Donna Taylor Hockaday of the home, two daughters, Julie Hockaday and Jamie Hockaday, both of the home, two sons, Jason Hockaday and wife Stacey of Wilton, Jeremy Hockaday of Butner, a granddaughter, Sydney Hockaday, a grandson, Trevor Hockaday, a sister, Shirley Lane of Butner and a brother, David Hockaday of Creedmoor.  He was preceded in death by a brother Robert Hockaday.

Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to Living Word Baptist Church, c/o Faye Middleton, Post Office Box 1172, Creedmoor, North Carolina 27522.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 3:30 PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Living Word Baptist Church prior to the funeral service and other times at the home.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My heart aches for you Donna and the children, it seems like yesterday we were all watching the kids play ball and eating one of those famous hotdogs.. I will keep you and the family in my prayers and if there is anything I can do for you please just let me know.. Michael and Jason May send their prayers also...

I cannot imagine what y'all are going through during this difficult time. One thing I do know however, is that a loving family and prayer can get you through anything. I just pray that you find a peace that passes understanding and please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to let us know. We love y'all so much.
