The hotel and tourism industry is certainly a lot richer for having been privileged to call Richard one of it's own. 

Richard's infectious impact on the industry started in 1987 when he joined the Air New Zealand team. The life of the team, Richard progressed with Air New Zealand taking on a management position in 1995 for the remainder of his time with them.

IHG was lucky to welcome Richard to the team in 2003 where he commenced as Assistant Manager at InterContinental Wellngton. His impact on the IHG team was felt from his very first day, a true leader, with a boundless energy Richard created a strong bond among the team which they still share today.

Moving on to the then Centra Auckland Airport (rebranded Holiday Inn) Richard took on the role as Business Development Manager and his energy was felt not just by his team but the very many clients who soon would count Richard as one of their closest friends.

His love of life and his friendly character were what stood Richard apart and when he took up the role as Key Account Manager within the Australasian National Sales Team, his energy continued to be felt far and wide.

A quiet achiever whose love of his job and his team shone through in everything he did. His resilience; strength and determination in every aspect of his role and life will be a blueprint for everyone who had the opportunity to work with him closely and for the wider industry.

He will forever be remembered.
