Richard John Peters, 93, of Peoria, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Generations at Peoria.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue in Peoria. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens with military honors provided by the U.S. Navy.
Richard was born in Springfield on December 8, 1925, a son of Herman and Lena (Wilson) Peters. He married Helen Marie Ratliff on June 28, 1951 in Pennsylvania. She preceded him in death on January 23, 2011 in Peoria. He was also preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Peters; and sisters, Hermina Williams and Betty Morris.
He is survived by his children, Rick (the late Jane) Peters of Peoria, Mark (Monda) Peters of Mesa, AZ and Karen (the late Fred) Lankford of Peoria; grandchildren, Jason (Melisa) Peters, Julie (Andy) Anderson, Jennifer (Kevin) Harris, Naja (Jose) Duran, Ashley, Andrew, Alexandria and Marc Peters and Heather and Brianna Lankford; great grandchildren, Nicholas, Ashlie, Jesse, Chayton, Skylar, Jacob, Piper, Eliza, Julia, Adan and Camilla; and great-great grandchildren, Paisley and two on the way.
Richard was a drafting engineer at Caterpillar for twenty-one years. He retired in 1992. He was also one of the founders of Richwoods Christian Church, where he and his late wife were members. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to his church.
