Mr. Smedley was born Friday, September 15, 1950 in Troup County, Georgia the son of the late Mary Eula Ball and Sam Smedley. Rickey was loved and cared for by sister, Jean Steele, nephew Larry Steele and special friends Debbie Rushton and Nora.

Survivors include his brothers Roy Smedley and David (Ann) Smedley; his sisters, Myra (J. D.) Tenney and Jean Steele; his sister-in-law, Geraldine Smedley and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Edward Zane Smedley, a sister, Frances Langley, and two brothers-in-law, James Langley and Carl Steele.
