Well, my brother, it's another year gone by and I still wish I could talk to ya just one more time. Hard to believe it's been almost 10 years since you left this earth for heaven. Can't figure out for the life of me why I am still here. Maybe one day you and I can take another motorcycle trip. I try my best to tell stories about you to all my friends that never had the chance to meet you. It helps me keep you close in my memories and my heart. Love Ya Mr. J

Well Ricky, I sure wish you were still here and could see the new boat Dad bought. He bought the Cadillacs of Flat bottoms and I am sure you would love it too. We had to get a bigger boat since him and I keep seeming to get bigger every year but its really a bad ass rig. I can only imagine the size of the Catfish where you are now must be huge and plenty and that makes me so jealous. We havent caught to many this year but we have tried and will keep on trying. We sure talk alot about you when were fishing on the river and can tell sometimes when your messing with us. You know a good man can be measured in many different ways but a big one is how many people miss and love him when he is gone and from that I have to say you are one of the GREATEST! We'll see you down on the Sabine brother. Love, Steve Jr.

I have to say this is still a sad day for all of us left behind on this earth. It's not the same without you here. I hope someday this will all make sense to me but for now, I just have to keep my faith that the good Lord needed you more than we did. Love Ya Mr Jackson

Hey Ricky, happy birthday and I cant begin to tell you how many people miss you and still talk about you still. Me and Dad been fishing as much as possible and doing pretty good. I got married June 1st and we even got my wife to go with us. I showed her how to bait and run lines and dad showed her how to clean a catfish and she did it all. A story about you always seems to come up while were on the sabine river and makes us feel like your still there. Miss you and love you from all of the Garrett Family.

Happy Birthday Mr Jackson there’s never a day that we all don’t think about you. Every man wants to leave his mark on this planet before he leaves and you my friend should be so proud to have so many people that still think about you everyday. That is a true legacy

Mr Jackson I just don’t have the words to express how much you are missed. Seems like I think about you more now than I ever have. I started fishing again after 7 years and jr and I have been fishing lake Palestine and we even got a trip in at the Sabine River. Hopefully there will never be a day that you are not in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers.

Yesterday I was aware that it was the anniversary and knew I'd see a sign that he was still here with us. As I drove out I-10 toward New Orleans I saw a tank truck, gold with Saints logo and #57...Rickey Jackson. I said "Thanks, Rick, for reminding us you're still with us."

I went to Montana last week. It was amazing, we had such a great time. I took some really wonderful pictures. Today is Chewy's birthday, she really misses you. I made her some cupcakes last night and she had a pup cone from Andy's last week in Missouri. I miss you so much and I love you.

Courtney, Jeremy, and Chris,
I know you miss Ricky like crazy! He was a great person and such a super dad. He loved you guys so much and was so proud of you! We had so many fun times when we all lived in Tyler. One of the memories that pops into my mind quickly are the nights we went to Mario's for dinner.

God had huge plans for you Rick to have taken you so young, but this I do know......He has a special angel in heaven who watches over and cares for Erni and the kids every day. RIP and know that we too here will help you take care of and watch over your family and your beautiful Erni. You are gone, but will never be forgotten.

Erni, Judy, Debbie, Bobby, and families! I was so sorry to hear that Ricky had passed. It is a shame that we didn't get to see everyone anymore than we did, but Ricky was always one of my cousins that I loved to visit with. My prayers are with all of you.

My Crazy Buddy

Shared by Steve Garrett on September 14, 2011

I met Ricky in I think in 1981 and we worked together for several years and one of his favorite things to do was to strike a pose and hike his pants as far up as he could get them and say

"Take a Picture of My Socks"

I have seen him do this many times and it never failed to get a good laugh. This is just how Jackson was he loved to have fun and he never passed up a chance to make ya laugh.
