My fiance and I were planning our wedding and because it was to be my second but his first I wanted something small but nice. My colleague, Betsy Gersley offered the services of her father Richard, a notary. I thought that would be just exactly what we needed. A simple ceremony. Well that was not what I got! When the name Gersley is associated with anything it is any but simple. When we arrived at Sally and Richard's home, we entered into the patio area which was quite lovely. We were greeted by Betsy who was lovely as ever, and her precious daughter Jackie, cute as ever! But then as we walked into the house I met Sally, not very tall but every bit the spitfire, and Richard who towered over most of us and after the formal greeting and niceties Richard leans into my ear and says, ever so eloquently, "My dear, you've filled that dress nicely!" I almost hit the floor in laughter and in embarrassment. You see, I was a bit over endowed and had ordered my pink cocktail dress from a catalogue and it was snug, very snug! Lol! What transpired thereafter has remained the most memorable day of my life, not only because I married the best man God ever intended me to be with, but because the love and fellowship I received in the Gersley home that day was and is the greatest I have ever known. My husband and I will be celebrating our 24th anniversary on March 9, 2015 and I recently found out that out wedding was the only one that Richard had officiated. Golam and I will always remember Richard slightly shaking and Golam messing up his vows and my having to nudge him to say I Do! And Richard and I laughing softly so as not to embarrass Golam. Sally put out a spread for us that we shall never forget! My wedding cake was the best! My life is forever for the better because of that day! God rest your soul Richard! I know you have brightened the world with your love and kindness and the Heaven's have gained a very special bright star!
