Richard has three sisters - Jen, Carolyn and Kerry and two brothers - Daryl and Reece.
  
Richard has seven bother- in-laws: John, Murray, Alan, Owen, Ron, Warwick and Mac. He has three sister-in-laws: Sue, Angela and DA. 

Having been part of Diane's family for 41 years he is thought of as a son and brother and is sorely missed.

Married to Diane Deadman at Puketapu Church on 2nd November 1974. The beginning of 37 years of marriage with ups and downs but always love and laughter. It was the proudest day of my life to see that tall handsome man standing at the aisle looking at me with love in his eyes and a beautiful smile that lit up his face.That memory is etched in my memory and heart for always.

Richard was born at Napier 5 July1954 to Judith and John Fenn. He was then adopted by Margaret and Bill (William) Longshaw and he went to live in Wimbledon in Central Hawkes Bay. When he was four years old the family moved to Waipawa. He attended Waipawa Primary School and then attended Dannevirke High School at a live in boarder. When he was fifteen his family moved to Napier and he finished his secondary school years at Napier Boys High School.
