Thank you to all of my beautiful family and friends who left tributes to my wonderful father! It's great that you chose to share your memories of him. Always knew he touched a lot of people other than his children, grandchildren, and others who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him during his life! We will be forever grateful to you for your kind words! Love you all.

Reverend Worrell...we'll never ever forget him. He was part of our growing up and those Sunday services, along with your mom, the pianist , singer, and choir leader. It's like they are a part of our history. We always thoroughly enjoyed hearing the Preached Word from Rev. Worrell.

I remember being at your house one time. Daddy Richard walked in, sat at the piano, started playing and singing. I was in awe. I also remember one time during the summer that we were working at school. We needed rain and he said we need to pray. I agreed with him, he then asked if God would recognize my voice. LOL. We both laughed and he tapped me on the shoulder. He raised a wonderful family of which I'm glad to call my friends. Happy Birthday with Jesus, Rev. Worrell.

The good in a man is not defined by his words but his deeds. There aren't many men I have known that labored his entire life with the goal of doing good. He knew the good life and he lived it. I carry parts of him with me everyday of my life.

To the wonderful man who taught me the meaning of quiet gentle power,
Who taught me that laughing out loud makes you happy, who taught me how to work without complaining and who taught me that you do "I love you", not just say "I love you". HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

DOING IT FOR LOVE!

February 15, 2013

DADDY RICHARD  use to tell me this... " when you play the piano for the "CHUCH",  don't do it because you think you have to.  Don't do it because the people said "you sound good.  Don't do it because you might get a little money.  Please don't do it because you think no one else can".

DADDY RICHARD said... "PLAY THE PIANO FOR THE "CHUCH" BECAUSE YOU LOVE TO DO IT!   IF YOU LOVE TO DO IT THEN YOU ARE DOING IT FOR LOVE".

DADDY RICHARD... I LOVE to play the piano because  I'M DOING IT FOR LOVE!

THANK YOU DADDY RICHARD FOR YOUR WISDOM.

You think you Grown now

February 13, 2013

I was 25 when my husband and I were pregnant with our first child Jevonya, I went to Belhaven and was sharing my news with my family,  Daddy Richard looked at me and said yo think you grown now. I really did not know what to say, so I said  I think so.   I will never forget that moment

February 13, 2013

When I told Daddy Richard I was pregnant with Gerry, He said " Do What?"

After Leon and I had been married about 20 some years, one day he looked in the room where we were sleeping and said "Leon what are you doing laying in the bed with my daughter?

When Jewell was an infant and would be crying in the middle of the night, Daddy Richard would get up  and make a fire in the heater so Jewell would be warm.  He would say "Reen what's the matter with her, don't you khow what you are doing?

I was a teacher and a military wife, but never seemed to have enough money to last til the once a month payday.  I would find Daddy Richard the school where he was a janitor and would ask  "Daddy Richard, can you loan me $10 until payday.  He would pull out a big wad and say "Is that all you need?  I would say, well 20 would be better.  He would give me 10 more and say "Is that all you need?  I would tell Muh and we would laugh and she would say, Rick was always a soft spot for you.

Daddy Richard introduced my husband and me to the Lord at a very young age.  He also baptized us eaarly one Sunday morning.  To God Be The Glory.
