There are so many stories he shared with me of his life. He was a fantastic story teller. I am not! I will add stories here later when my heart isnt so tight with grief. I have never been loved like he loved me. I can't explain how much he completed me. I look at pictures and videos of him every day . I miss him terribly.

I initially met Richard while attending Commissioners Court in April, 2019. It didn’t take long to think of him as a true friend. Early on in our friendship, it was clear he had a passion for helping people in need. I could always depend on Richard to be an effective sounding board for making decisions to help neutralize controversial issues within my own subdivision.
Our friendship was based on mutual respect and appreciation for our community needs. We were like-minded individuals regarding the growing concern of our nation and world. We shared much information to keep each other informed. His desire to help people understand the community needs was very impressive.
Richard’s love and concern for his family and friends were clearly unparalleled. His love for Penny was most obvious when engaged in most any type of conversation. He clearly portrayed that she consistently remained in his thoughts... always.
Richard remains in our hearts and thoughts and we will miss him dearly.

Remembering Richard "RK" Lewis

November 6, 2021
Richard "RK" Jack Lewis, of Lakehills, TX was embraced by God on Saturday, September 18, 2021 after a short health struggle.

Richard was born on January 23, 1953 to Jack and Rosemarie Lewis in San Antonio, TX and the world was never the same after.  We know his parents were standing alongside Jesus when Richard walked through the gates of heaven.

Richard graduated from Antonion High School in 1971 and then went on to study at the University of Houston and University of Texas-San Antonio.  Yet, Richard was not defined by his degrees; instead he was known for always finding a way to serve others so that his corner of Texas would become better. He was a retired Bexar and Harris counties deputy. He served as a volunteer fireman with the Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department and was a certified crisis chaplain for PACT. He also helped out those with health needs to travel to specialists in other states by being a volunteer pilot with Angel Flight. Now for most men, all of that would be “enough” but not so for Richard. He was also part of the Lakehills Community Action Plan and Texas Equisearch.

In [year], Richard met Penny when they both attended [name of church] in Houston, TX.  As the old saying goes, “The rest is history” (along with a dented car) and the two became inseparable. Richard’s and Penny’s love grew daily and they were married on [date] Left to honor Richard’s memory and life include his wife Penny and his son S. Miles Lewis of Austin, TX along with many friends.

Services will be held at Lakehills United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, Richard’s family requests donations be made to any cause that will serve others, like Richard did with his life on earth.

So glad we met - Valhalla

October 8, 2021
I first virtually knew Richard, reading his comments on the various chat groups online and also within the Neighborhood app.
He was ALWAYS informative, truthful and especially passionate about everything he wrote!
His love for animals, especially his white-tail deer, shined through his words as he encouraged everyone, to, "STOP feeding the damn deer corn but buy protein deer feed"   I can hear that quote in his voice, like he could only say it!!

My hubby & I met Richard at the Lakehills Chapter, American Legion.
He had personally invited us there.

I began attending Commissioner's Court to see what all the hub-bub was about, as he ALWAYS spoke highly of the useful information you can get regarding our community.
Richard really knew how to shut someone down,  when that person would gripe about taxes or someone would be using scare tactics in an open forum.
He never was malicious or raised his voice, but he would kill them with kindness and a wealth of facts!

His kindness was what made him!!  He would happily give you ANYTHING, just by asking!  He knew exactly which people were friends or foe.  It  didn't matter to him....he would gladly help you, even if it came back to bite him in the butt!

Gonna miss this special kind of man, friend, & mentor.  No one else will be able to fill the large void he has made in our Community by his untimely death....but especially the hole he has left within my heart ❤!

Me, being a Marine Veteran,  there is a special place for warriors and just good damn people, as Richard Lewis....it's spoken as VALHALLA:  Valhalla was the reward of a life well lived. To be selected into Valhalla was your reward for Valor, Bravery, Courage and an unyielding Devotion to your fellow man. Valhalla was a place where the Brave live forever.
This is the PERFECT description of Richard....Until Valhalla Richard  - OORAH!
