Rina Rodriguez, 97 years of age died peacefully in her sleep on January 3, 2018, at Queen of Peace Residence. The daughter of Jose Noya and Josefa Remon, she was born on May 5, 1921 in Manzanillo, Cuba. She migrated with her husband and daughters to the United States in May of 1967, settling in the Park Slope section of Brooklyn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Alberto Rodriguez and her sisters Noemi Noya and Olga Serrano.

Rina is survived by her two daughters, Giselle Ryke and Tania Rossini, son-in-law Robert Ryke, three grandchildren; Robert Ryke, Natasha Ryke and Nicole Bergman, and four great-grandsons; Devin and Dylan Ryke; and Theodore and William Bergman.

Rina was a seamstress, an avid gardener, amateur artist and excellent cook. She had an infectious smile and was often the life of the party. She was very loyal to her friends and had a strong sense of family which she passed on to her daughters.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 at 10:30am in the Chapel at Queen of Peace Residence, 110-30 221 Street, Queens Village, NY 11429, with Father Evans Julce officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ 08830.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2019between 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm at Queen of Peace Residence.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Little Sisters of the Poor and the staff at Queen of Peace for the wonderful care and many prayers Rina received and the help extended to the family.
