Robert Allen Carr, age 69, died November 12, 2021. He was born in Charles City, Iowa, on May 15, 1952. He is survived by his wife Nita and their children, Cam (Andrew) Pearce, Ginger (Cory) Hamilton, Bradley Jantz, Jeffrey (Amelia) Jantz; his grandchildren, Georgia (3) and Mills (1) Pearce and Jeffrey (3) and Lydia (2) Jantz; his sister Ann (Ron) Thomas and niece Taylor Thomas. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace; his parents Allen, June, and stepmother Irene Carr; his brother George and his sister Ronda.

Robert’s greatest joys and accomplishments centered on his relationships with family, friends, and Jesus. His great, early inspiration was his grandmother Edna, whose faith and optimism made each day special, despite hardships.

Robert lived a life of service. Professionally, he was committed to hospitality, from the Kahler Hotel in Rochester, Minnesota, to his long-term tenure at Birmingham Country Club and Vestavia Hills Country Club. Within the community, he served as Advisory Board President of O’Neal Comprehensive Cancer and a volunteer for many other charitable organizations.

The last years of his life were filled with the joys of becoming a grandparent, watching his children flourish, and traveling worldwide. His marriage to Nita brought him tremendous joy. Robert will be remembered by his family and countless friends as a man of patience, generosity, and kindness, who lived and shared life to the fullest.

Visitation will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Friday, November 19, at 10 A.M., with a memorial service at 11 A.M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cornerstone Schools of Alabama or The Foundry.
