Still remembering Bob with pleasant thoughts. Seems unreal that it has been five years since his passing.
Robert “Bob” Newcomb, 82, a lifetime resident of Granville County, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, NC.
A native of Granville Co., he was the son of the late Wiley Fleming Newcomb and Mary Elizabeth Humphries. He attended Shady Grove Methodist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church in Creedmoor. He was the Wagon Master of the Granville Co. Relay for Life Trail Ride.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 Pm Friday, March 6, 2015 in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by Rev. Eddie Mauldin. Burial will be in Granville Memorial Park in Oxford, NC.
Surviving are two daughters, Tammy N. Briggs and Kathy Newcomb-Clark both of Oxford, three sons, Wayne Newcomb (Lisa), Ricky L. Newcomb (Connie), and Charlie Bryan Newcomb all of Oxford, a sister, Alice Faye Land of Oxford, a brother, Lewis Newcomb (Mildred) of Durham, granddaughters, Angela, Elizabeth, Victoria and Brittany, grandsons, Frankie, Chris, Rob, Dexter, Brent and Austin, great-grandsons, Rusty and Bradyn and a special friend Helen Watkins Yancey . He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Goss Newcomb, his daughter, Helen Newcomb Watkins, a sister, Florence N. Farmer and brothers, Wiley Junior Newcomb, Edward L. Newcomb, and Jerry Newcomb, and a great grandson , Justice Duke.
Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 6th, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 PM prior to the service at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford.

The memories that we have of Bob with Bro Bragg will last a lifetime. Never was there such men that took all of us into their arms and treated us all like family! Bob always shared his love for horses with us and I will always treasure those memories of trail rides around home and in the mountains. He will be greatly miss! Our prayers are with you all. So sorry to hear of the passing of bob. My family sure thought alot of him. Now he's with his love ones up in heaven and with my daddy Benny husketh telling tobacco stories. Prayers and love to each and everyone of you during this difficult time.
