Robert Harvey Carter, known as “Bob” to his family and friends, and “GD”, or “Grandad” to his grandchildren, was a loving, devoted and loyal brother, husband, father, grandfather, friend and businessman.  Bob was born in Long Beach, California on May 10, 1945, and passed away on August 2, 2018, at age 73, after a valiant battle with cancer.  Bob has one brother.  He married Sandee, the love of his life, on February 3, 1967, and they began their life as husband and wife in Long Beach, California. They recently celebrated their 51stwedding anniversary.

Bob graduated from CSULB, with a B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, and then began his long and successfully diverse professional career as a CPA, first working for Price-Waterhouse in Los Angeles, and in 1979, he and Sandee decided to move and relocate the now family of four, including daughter Deby and son David, to North County San Diego where he opened his own Accounting Firm.  During this time, Bob became involved in the Tri City Hospital Foundation, and Vista Lion’s Club, while volunteering as an Investment Advisory Committee Member for the City of Vista, and serving on the board of the family synagogue. He worked with his CPA firm until 1999, when he decided to try his hand at (retirement?) gaming, including new partners and a Casino in Oceanside, Ocean’s 11, where Bob became a managing partner for several years. His intrigue, knowledge, honesty and success in this industry grew with the shared purchase of another casino, The Bicycle Hotel Casino, in Bell Gardens.  Bob enjoyed his role of Managing Partner of this Casino, forming a special bond with many of his partners and employees. The Bike has made the well-being of the community one of its top priorities and its networking with the City and State of prime importance. He continued working closely with the City of Vista, and the newly started Bicycle Casino Community Foundation (to help youth in the Bell Gardens community attend colleges).

Throughout his life, Bob held his family, friends and philanthropy as most valuable, and instilled in his family those same morals and values. Bob’s values, work ethic, sense of loyalty, and fairness were instilled in him at a very early age.  He practiced these with great pride and respect.  Bob was an asset to his state, city, and many communities and businesses. He is remembered by his wife, Sandee, daughter Deby, her children Dempsey and Clara, his son David and wife Megan, and their children Emery, Eden and Curren, brother Jerry and wife Juda, brother in law Dan and wife Caren, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family in the Midwest, and many friends.
