Everyone said goodbye to nephew Andrew Hawley today in Arizona. He is now with his mother Pat, Uncle's Butch and Tim, his grandparents and many other relatives who have passed on. Godspeed Andy, we will miss you. I am posting a recent photo of Andy with his Uncle Donald. Andy is on the right.

Butch made some of the best salsa in the world! He had two different secret ingredients, the first was a special blend of spices that took him years to master. The 2nd was the love and positive energy he put into the lime juice just before he mixed it in with the rest of the ingredients. He would take a moment to say a prayer and to conscientiously put positive energy into his creation! That's why it tasted amazing!!! I thank you for teaching me this wonderful trick! Love you!!!

I am posting a photo of a beautiful quilt my cousin Rebecca Laine made and donated to raise funds for Hospice. Entitled "Remembering Two Cousins" please click on the quilt photo to learn more. My late husband would love this quilt and he would recognize the love and care that came from the heart in making it. I will also post a story about two other quilts from my cousin in "His Life" section, time permitting. My hope is that all family members and friends will share stories and fun and interesting things remembered about him.

A special request for prayers for one of Butch's cats. Jelli2k has kindly been adopted and is cared for by our nephew Andy and we have learned that she has cancer as well as a problem with one eye. Please keep both she and Andy in your thoughts and prayers as this is difficult for him as well. There is a photo of Jelli kissing Butch on the site as a kitten, she is a very sweet little calico girl.

Jo I want to thank you very much for setting up this tribute for Butch. It's beautiful and I absolutely love the streaming pictures. My uncle Butch was one of the smartest people I knew. He told me how he created his first digital watch out of old broken watches from the junk yard, when he was only 8 years old. He just tinkered with the different electronic pieces until he got it to work.

I know you miss Butch terribly and someday in another dimension you will see him and embrace him, again. But for now, you have to survive the grieving process. It was always a pleasure to see him and Jo come into my coffee shop. I always enjoyed the both of them. Butch was a kind man with a big heart. I would have allowed Butch to do whatever he wanted to do here at A Shot of Java. Butch you will be missed by many. One day we will all be together again. I will honor your memory. Proud to call him my Friend. Until we meet again.

Butch was the possibly the smartest person I've even known. At eleven years of age we both joined Boy Scouts; I realized how inteligent he really was when our troop memorized the Morse Code. Butch astonished everyone; instead of memorizing dots and dashes, his amazing mind used mental imagery: letter A (dot/dash) became an apple and stem. He learned the entire Morse code in one evening!

The Mansions of the Lord are a blessed place, but now they are even better because of the arrival of a great human soul who was literally one-in-a-million.

Butch - Your quiet dedication to Marty and his music left a big impression, and your courage in adversity is an inspiration. I'm thankful for all your support and encouragement. You left memories that will never die.

Robert was such a delight to get to know in the last few months as he and my boyfriend struggled with cancer in their treatment group together. No matter how he felt he took time to help others at the treatment Center. He came to our house to help us set up electronic devices that we weren't techie enough to understand. Thank you Jo for this great tribute to Butch.
