Someone once told me, there are only a handful of people who come into your world, and touch your life in a dramatic fashion. Some of those people are just flickers of light, while others are consistent glows for years. For me, Mr. Evans was one of the handful that touched me to my soul forever and in reality he never knew it.


I met Mr. Evans at a beauty pageant for his Granddaughter Faith. Before ever being officially introduced to him, I knew who he was because of the instant greeting of his grandkids, his daughter and wife, it was an outpouring of love that unfortunately, you only see in movies these days. This told me that this was the rock of this family, I could see the unconditional love that he had for each and every one of them. After I was introduced to him and shaking his calloused, life worn, rock solid hand it took me instantly back to My Grandad I remember feeling so comfortable around him. It’s rare to experience that with anyone, I felt like I could tell him anything. I compare it to how I remember my Grandad as a kid growing up with him as my Father figure.
This brings me to one of the things my Granddad taught me “life is short, and the most important part of life is the legacy you create while you are here”. I realized the day I met Mr. Evans that he lived his life by that exact life lesson. When you stand back and look from the outside in you see this Norman Rockwell vision of what Family and unconditional love really is. Committed to being the best Husband, Father and Grandfather Mr. Evans spent his life giving his all and asking for nothing in return. I can only wish that I will be remembered as half the man he was. In closing I leave you with a quote from Albert Einstein, “The value of a man should be seen in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive.” With this quote in mind Mr. Evans was priceless
