Robert “Bobby” Harris Kendrick Jr., 66, of Chelsea, Alabama, died in his home on Monday, March 4, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby Kendrick was a man of faith, family, and football. He enjoyed saying the rosary each morning, spending time with his loved ones, and rooting for his favorite college football team the Alabama Crimson Tide. He was a craftsman at woodworking, creating custom furniture from scratch that will last a lifetime. He always looked forward to nights out with the love of his life, Annette, eating Mexican food.
He was born in 1957 to Harris Kendrick and Rose Turner, who raised him to be a God-fearing, kind, and considerate man whose smile would light up a room. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1976 before earning a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. He later earned a master’s degree in business administration at Sacred Heart University.
Bobby met his soulmate, Annette, while they were both in high school, but didn’t know it until 1980 when they reconnected. Excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in 1981 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Their home became full quickly, with three beautiful daughters and a handsome son who all thought the world of him.
Although he enjoyed being a father, Bobby’s favorite role was being a grandparent. He treasured his time with his grandkids and loved being their Papa, never failing to cheer them on during sporting events or pick up the dinner tab.
Bobby had a soft spot for his dogs, especially Murphy and Grady, treating each and every one like the valuable family member they were.
He was passionate about his role in IT and Finance at Cigna Insurance Company, working for them for over ten years. He cherished his coworkers, and they cherished him in return.
Bobby will always be remembered for his selflessness, and the way he made you feel when he spoke to you, like you were the only person in the room. We couldn’t have asked for a better husband/son/brother/dad/Papa and will miss him every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Bobby was preceded in death by his father, Harris Kendrick, and his daughter, Amanda Kendrick, and is survived by his wife Annette Kendrick, his children Allyson Machnik, Amber Kendrick Carone and her husband James, Patrick Kendrick and his wife Erin, his grandchildren Collin Gartland, Faith Machnik and Christopher Machnik, his mother Rose Turner, stepfather Dick Turner, and his sisters Cathie Royston, Ruthanne Knoll, Gracie Kendrick and her husband Ed Cisneros, and Emily Lunceford and her husband, Thad.
A Funeral Mass is taking place on Friday, March 8 at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Birmingham, AL with a visitation scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
Professional services entrusted to W.E. Lusain Funeral Home and Crematory of Birmingham, Alabama.

Bobby, I am going to miss you and our daily calls. You truly had such a beautiful spirit and always knew how to make every situation positive with a smile on our face. You looked at the bright side of things and knew how to make everyone laugh around you. You would always lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. The Cigna team is going to miss you dearly! I sure am going to miss that smile on our Webex calls and the friendly banter when it came to Alabama. #RollTide

I am continuing to pray for peace and comfort for your family during this difficult time. May you rest in peace Bobby. You will truly be missed by all!

I remember being in Webex meetings before I actually knew Bobby or worked directly with him, and thinking to myself how nice it was that he was always the smiling face in the "room" and always had something positive to say.  Then, over the past year I've had the pleasure of working more closely with him .... and what I learned is that his cheerfulness and positive attitude was constant. I can honestly say that Bobby was one of the kindest people I've ever known.  I think I speak for many when I say his Cigna friends and colleagues will miss him very much.  I'm praying for strength, comfort and peace for Bobby's family during this very difficult time.

My Bro,
You are sunrises, queso, game day, ice cream & brownies, AC/DC, air hockey, biscuits & gravy, fried shrimp, Roll Tide, Go Braves, golf and Froggle. Funny, sweet, caring and warm. Bowling lane noise in your mouth! Golf claps. Froggle King on the fridge. I miss you so much and will always think of you in the early morning light. A time of quiet, of birds, of streaks of pink and purple in the sky. A time I always knew you were up too. Love forever, Sro
