Affectionately known as "Bug" by family and friends, Mr. Johnson was born in Palmers Springs, VA, the son of Robert L. and Ada Hargrove Johnson. He attended the Warren County High School and was a member of Jerusalem United Church of Christ. He was a U. S. Army Veteran who retired following 22 years of dedicated service to his country.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Earnest and Clarence Johnson.

Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Mrs. Patricia Pierce Johnson; four children, Tangee C. Young (Emory), Toni T. Collins, Demetrius Tarver (Monica) and Robert W. Johnson, Jr.; eleven grandchildren, one great grandchild; four siblings, Alice P. Harding, Thomas Johnson (Stephanie), Carlton "Bo" Johnson and Evelyn D. Junius (Allen); two aunts and one uncle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
