When I was a little girl, Bobby was a teenager.  I remember once he showed up at my grandmother's camp in a van with blue shag carpeting inside -- even on the ceiling!  And I thought that was pretty cool.  (It was the 70's, after all.)  He was getting ready to take a road trip with some friends.  Bobby was such a truly nice person, and he had a real affinity for kids.  He was always the one playing with the kids at family functions.  Such a big kid himself!  Watching him and Steve play ping pong in Betty's basement is one of my favorite memories.

I remember when Bobby met Wendy -- he was smitten immediately!  He talked about her like a man in love.  He couldn't stop thinking about her, he said.  One night we were at a 50's dance club, and she was there, across the room.  He was so nervous about talking to her, he must have hemmed and hawed for 20 minutes before approaching her!  Their wedding was in Betty's backyard, small and quiet, on a beautiful sunny day.

When Ashley was born, I visited Bobby and Wendy in the hospital (I worked there) and I remember thinking what a wonderful feeling there was in the room.  Calm, peaceful, and happy.

Bobby was a force of nature.  He enjoyed life to its very fullest and had fun wherever he went.  He had a kooky sense of humor and was one of the kindest men I've ever met.  Once in a while, I talk with my kids about Bobby and his zest for life.  Then we do what Bobby liked to do:  Eat dessert first.
