His family moved to Miami, Florida when he was an infant. Robert graduated from Everglades High School with honors and played on the basketball team. He graduated from the University of South Florida on an academic scholarship. Following in his father's footsteps Robert became a member of the Zeta Xi Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Robert excelled at the University of South Florida. Because of his hard work and determination he was able to earn his bachelor's degree in three years.
After college Robert worked for the St. Petersburg Florida Sheriff's Office as a Child Protection investigator. Because of what he witnessed as an investigator he decided to attend Law School so that he could be an advocate for children and families in need. "A Great Listener"
It amazed me that even at a young age Jr. was such a great listener. I recall on several occasion how he would sit with his youngest neice Tara and listen to her complain about everything that she felt was impeding her young life. I would stand on the outskirts and watch him in deep thought, and after she had expended her breathe emptying her frustration. Jr. would speak in an intellect that was far beyond his years. In hopes of her understanding what he had to say. I once heard Jr. share with Tara that, "in order for things to change she had to change." He was just being "GREAT."
