His Life
April 11, 2016

Robert (Bob) Volpe passed away peacefully in his home on March 16,2016.  Bob was born February 24, 1950 in Hull QC to Robert and Lucille.  At age 2, his family moved to Blairstown,NJ where Bob spent his youth.  After high school, he attented Warren County Tech Institute and then went on to complete his education at Lafayette University in Easton PA.  An interesting fact about Bob is that his major in college was Analytical Chemistry.   One might wonder how this translated into Transportation.

Bob career in the Transportation industry started April, 1985 with Transport America, where he was a professional over the road driver until 1989.  During his time on the road Bob displayed dedication and professionalism, earning him Transport America both fuel and safety bonuses.

After his time in the truck, Bob moved in an office position.  In the early days, he not only dispatched drivers but worked as a customer service representative booking loads.   His most recent position as Fleet Leader was a perfect fit for Bob and his drivers.  He was not only a Fleet Leader; too many he was also a friend.   Ask any of his drivers and they will fondly tell a story about Bob.  Nobody in the office was exempt from Bob's humor.  In an earlier interview with Bob he stated "In the trucking business a smile can be one of the strongest motivators needed to help create a sound working enviroment, and it's free!"  He was always quick with a one-liner or a joke to put a smile on someone's face.  Bob was also known by the deer that frequented the yard of Transport America, receiving their daily feeding from their friend.

Outside of work, Bob enjoyed spending his weekends taking his RV out with Gina and Frankie their dog.   He spent time fishing, golfing and attending races in Brainerd.   During the warmer months, it was not unusual to see Bob sporting around in his Corvette, which he kept polished for such occasions.

In September, 2015 we were all saddened by the news of Bob's cancer.   Thoughout the last 6 months of his life, with his family and friends by his side, he fought a good fight.   He kept his sense of humor and continued living out his legacy making people smile.   Bob's death has left a hole in our heartsbut that hole is now filling with the many great memories created thoughout his life.

Bob is survived by his wife Gina; Roger (Agnes), Shroudsburg PA; son ,Darin(Marine Compton, Easton PA; daughter Jennifer(Scott) Lovenstei, Southampton,PA ; grandchildren, Damin,Sara and Matthew;and many friends who will miss him dearly.   He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother.
