Memories of fun-filled days with your boys under the Nigerian sun and at Riverdale seem like only yesterday. You were a great character and it was always good to see you when you visited Mum and Dad in Norfolk.
Your sense of humour was always a pleasure to share, and I'm sure will be missed by all who knew you.
Rest in Peace dear Bob

Uncle Bob was my mother's youngest brother and I was lucky to have been given his old leather school satchell when I passed the 11 plus. Unfortunately he had carved his name in it and it took me a long time to convince people that my name wasn't Robert Perks. He was the last of my mother's four brothers and we miss them all.

Our dearest Grandpa Bob brought so many happy moments and left us with a treasure trove of memories. The laughs, the stories, the smiles. And despite all the sadness we feel, it is these very memories that will help push the pain away and bring back the smiles. Rest in peace.
Lots of love - Charles, Tamara and Naia

An Impromptu Poet

December 5, 2012

When he lived in Panxworth with Grandma Diana, Grandpa Bob would often ring to hear how we were doing, what we had been up to and just for a general chat.  On this occasion, none of us were in.  Rather than just hanging up the phone, Grandpa used the opportunity to conjure up a short poem and leave it as an answerphone message.

Things such as this epitomised him; his kindness and selflessness; taking pleasure in hearing of the pleasure and goodfortune of others; being a great listener whenever others had problems; and his fantastic wit, which formed such a large part of his personality.
