Remembering your Love of Cooking

June 4, 2012

Sadly, the day you left PPC the happiest chapter of my life came to an end.  I will treasure always  the gourmet dinner you, Jim Wilcott and Bill Pfaff put together at my home as the winning auction item to raise money for the Music Dept.
Shopping for it was the only time I ever had a ball at the market. It was a hilarious experience with the three of you.
You were supposed to do the cooking in my kitchen but come to find out much later that Bonnie and Bettie did it at home and when you came all that was needed was a warm up. You cheated!!!
I will never forget the riotous times during the dinner that as a proper hostess I felt I needed to check on the kitchen staff. The minute I opened the door  you all quickly returned to your posts from what I  perceived as a quick nip at the  bottle!
The most precious reminder of that dinner was the exquisite calligraphic dinner menus you so painstakingly  produced that i still have. You are truly missed.

My Tribute Through Poem to Bob and Bonnie

February 27, 2012

Though I could write a thousand words
to show my love and esteem for the both of you,
I don't think there are enough words
in any language
that could sufficiently describe
the kindness and holiness
that are in your souls
You both were generous to a fault
and I want to thank you, thank you
for all of the good times
we have had
simply because
you were your sweet and wonderful selves!

Our Trips Together

February 27, 2012

My mother and I have had the pleasure of accompanying Bob and Bonnie and other mutual friends from the Kirk Choir at PCC on various excursions and outings, but the two excursions that I remember the most are the trips we took to Lancaster to look at wildflowers and, on another occasion, a whale watching expedition.  While the details remain a bit foggy due to the fact that I was a youngster when these events occurred, the thing that I remember the most about these two trips  were the loving and sweet personalities of two fine people who ministered to me without their knowing it through their love of others and through their love of life.  To me, as a youngster basking in the loving warmth of two very generous and kind people, I remember that I never cared about what the excursions were; I just wanted to be with Bob and Bonnie at any time and at any place because they loved to laugh and they were just wonderful to be around.(oh, did I forget to mention that Bob was one of my first crushes growing up?) I only wish that I had been able to see and to know them as an adult when I was not quite so timid as I was 30 years + ago.  While my heart grieves over the fact that I lost touch with them over the past 30 years and will lose touch for another 30-50 years, my faith teaches me that one day I will see them again and they will know me as I am now (still shy, but not quite as timid as I was then, I don't think!) Thank you, Bob and Bonnie for all the things you have done for me and all of the love you gave to not only me but to the whole world!
