Robert Roe (1944 - 2016)

Prof.dr. Robert A. Roe 11 August 1944 – 22 February 2016

“Witnessing without sadness the death of someone we knew well, someone who literally played a role in our own life, is not easy. But in seeing death as proof that life has been completed we can strip away the heavy negative power that is commonly attached to it. I wish that the last moment that my body is still here is seized to celebrate the life lived, with all that it meant to others, and all its imperfections." -- Robert A. Roe, March 7th 2015

:
-- Robert A. Roe, 7 maart 2015

It is with great sadness that we have to inform you that our former EFPA president Robert Roe passed away yesterday afternoon.

Robert was not only an excellent EFPA president but a great colleague and friend.

Robert will be remembered as a very kind, committed person who was always there to support, share his wisdom and his sense of humour. He will be greatly missed both as a colleague and a friend but he will live on in the memory of t)hose who had the honour and pleasure to know him.

Our sincere and deep condolences go to his wife Marika and his son and daughter.

May he rest in peace.

Dear Rob,
seven years ago..
We often think of you here at EFPA, your name is mentioned at several occasions.
I would have loved to hear your opinion about so many things, not the least about the global situation. But it is not possible..
Missing you.

Opa and Sam

February 25, 2016

One of my favourite memories of Robert is from our visit to Maastricht for my son's second birthday. We travelled from Vancouver, Canada so see Babi and Opa (grandma and grandpa). We had many adventures, but it was the quiet moments at home, cuddling with Opa in his favourite chair, or playing with wooden trains, which made our visit so special. One afternoon, Sam and Opa decided to play trumpets with funnels pressed to their lips. It was a cacauphony of ridiculous sounds! My mom always delighted in Robert's incredible sense of humour, and it was lovely to witness it, much to the delight of my son. We had many more wonderful visits over the last 12 years, so many to fill our memories with love and light.

Robert, Opa, we will cherish you forever in our hearts!
