Early Sunday morning on October 14th, Robert Thomas Nicolazzo age 61 passed away peacefully in his Franklinton NC home surrounded by his loving wife and two daughters.
He was born in Cambridge, MA on November 26th 1956 to the late Michael P. Nicolazzo and Carolyn (Brown) Nicolazzo of Hudson, MA.
Robert will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, Colette S. Kneeland of Franklinton, NC and his two daughters, Holly Nicolazzo of Raleigh, NC and Marylou Nicolazzo of Asheville, NC and his grandson, August Umaña of Raleigh, NC.
He is survived by his siblings, Michael Nicolazzo of Philadelphia, PA, Jean Nicolazzo of Providence, RI, Richard Nicolazzo of Hudson, MA, Joanne Nicolazzo of Hyde Park, MA, Janet Nicolazzo of Lancaster, MA, and Julie Nicolazzo of Hudson, MA, and predeceased by sister Joyce Nicolazzo of Hudson, MA. He is also survived by several cousins and many adoring nieces and nephews.
Robert worked as a Software Engineer at Compaq Computer Corp (formerly Digital Equipment Corp) in MA for over 20 years. After relocating to North Carolina in 2001, he worked as a Radiographic Technologist at Duke University Hospital.
His love of nature was a huge part of his life, as he enjoyed fishing, gardening, canoeing, kayaking and windsurfing any chance he got. He was an avid reader of history, science and nature books, which he loved to discuss and share with his family and friends. Those who knew Robert well will never forget his quick wit, kind heart and deep respect for the natural world.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Massachusetts followed by a private burial.
