Robert Vincent Naber, 82, of Crescent City CA, passed away February 28, 2015 in Portland, Oregon.

Robert was born in Ottawa, Illinois to John and Inez Naber on January 27, 1933. In 1950 he graduated from high school in New York at the age of 17 and immediately enlisted in the Navy where he served our country proudly for 20 years. After an honorable discharge in 1969, Robert settled down in Southern California where he spent the next 10 years working at Pt. Mugu for the Navy Astronautics Group (now the Naval Satellite Operations Center). He retired at an early age and moved to Round Mountain, California where he was an avid volunteer at Stevens Ministries. He then moved to Crescent City, California where he committed most of his time to the community through the church and as a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

He loved cars, enjoyed nights out dancing and had an insatiable appetite for knowledge. Whether through the church, community groups or simply with his friends, he could always be counted on for counsel and support.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, parents John and Inez; four brothers Bailey, Norman, John and Harold Naber; and sisters Lorelei Jandly, Marilyn Bungarz and Carol Carsella.

Robert is survived by his brother Richard of Candor, NY; sons Steven and Robert; daughter Mary; five grandchildren Steven, Ryan, Brandon, Melissa and Justin Naber; and great granddaughter Myla.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Brookings, Oregon on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 10:00 am with Father Luan Nguyen officiating. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will precede the Mass at 9:30am. To celebrate his life, Robert’s family will receive friends at a reception following the Mass in Parish Hall.

He kept the faith and now rests eternally with his beloved wife Barbara.
