Bob's Journey

August 22, 2012

Bob passed away August 16, 2012 while in Hospice care in Mesa, AZ.  He was born in Los Angeles, Calif., but grew up in San Francisco where the lure of the sea took him to join the Merchant Marine during WW II at the age of 16.  That led to twenty years in the U.S. Air Force, part of which was spent on Crash Rescue Boats, picking up pilots downed in the sea in Korea.  Following retirement from the military, the family chose Mesa, Arizona as home where he spent fifteen years with Motorola.  He put in many years coaching little League baseball and served as a referee in youth soccer in his free hours. Following his second retirement he volunteered many years at Mesa Lutheran Hospital, and after moving from Mesa to Pine in 1994, Bob spent many more years doing the same at the Payson Regional Medical Center.  He was active in the Pine Kiwanis and served proudly in the Payson Military Honor Guard for as long as he was able.  His wonderful smile, happy disposition and loving ways will be sorely missed by his wife of 46 years Agnes (Aggie), sons Steven and Lars (Lisa), daughters Larissa (Michael) Dvorak and Jill (Bruce) Barteau, twelve wonderful grandchildren, four great grandsons and brother Roland.  He was preceded in death  by his mother Dorothy Hansen, stepfather Emil Hansen and brother Chris Hansen.
