Roc H. Biffinger Roc Biffinger, age 63, of Atchison, Kansas died surrounded by his family at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MO on July 19, 2012. The cause was due to respiratory failure. Roc was born January 31, 1949, in Atchison to Bill and Barbara Biffinger. He attended Oklahoma State University and graduated from Benedictine College in 1972. He married Jane Ann Minnis of Atchison, KS. He lived in Atchison most of his life. Roc was employed by the State of Kansas Human Resources Division of Employment for the past 38 years. He was a sports enthusiast, running track and starring as half-back for the Atchison Redmen in the late 1960s. Roc was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed watching all sports on tv and especially when his grandchildren were on the court or on the field. He had an easy, relaxed demeanor. Later in life Roc became an amazing inspirational speaker. He was tolerant, forgiving and patient. Roc was a proud, patient and loving father and husband. It was heartwarming to see the pure joy and love in his face when interacting both with his kids and later with his grandkids. Roc was a special man that was admired very much by his family, friends and coworkers. He was atruly good person and will be deeply missed by so many. Survivors include his wife, Jane Ann Biffinger of the home; children, Roxanne R. Hug (Joe) of Olathe, KS, Brooke L. Kirby (Matt) of Overland Park, KS and Peter J. Biffinger of Atchison, KS; a brother, William Bing Biffinger (Bonnie) of Brownwood, TX; grandchildren, Alex, Johnny, Harrison and Mara Jane; and his best friend of 60 years, Richard Liebch. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012 at St. Benedict’s Catholic Church in Atchison, where the family will receive friends until 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Benedict’s with Rev. Gerard Senecal, OSB presiding. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to Atchison Catholic Elementary School or Specs for Little Heroes and may be left in care of the Meyers Funeral Chapel Northland, 401 Main St., Parkville, MO 64152.
