On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, Roderick Doo Bong Kang, loving husband and father of 2, passed away at age 55.

Roderick was born on July 7, 1965 to Young and Kyung Kang. From an early age, he exhibited an entrepreneurial spirit and opened his first business, Peter’s Market. He continued to strive toward his ambitions, opening several more businesses throughout his life. Later, he married his wife of 28 years, Minhee Kang, on August 15, 1992. Together, they started the next generation of the Kang family with their first born, Nina Kang, 26, and later added to the growing family with Peter Kang, 21.

As the eldest of 4 siblings, including Anna Kang, Sung Im Kang, and Anthony Kang, Roderick was a natural born leader. He always prioritized the needs of his family and friends before his own. Though many knew him to be a stoic, more reserved man, those who were close with him knew him to be loving, committed, and selfless. He was obstinately independent, never wanting to burden others, and always humble, often downplaying his acts of service.

Roderick was preceded in death by his mother, Kyung. He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son. A viewing will be held at the Fertig Funeral Home (63 N. Main St. Mullica Hill, NJ 08062) on Sunday, April 11 from 6-9pm. The funeral service will be held in the same location on Monday, April 12, beginning with a viewing at 10am, followed by his service at 11 am and burial in Mullica Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Zoom streaming will be available Monday at 9:30am until the conclusion of the service by clicking the link below.

To be a part of the Tiger Kang Karate Family is something truly special. Losing the backbone of our TKK Family is a devastating loss. The Quiet Strength that Sensei Kang always exhibited has left its mark on so many, and his students, young and old, as well as their families, will live life as better people because of having the privilege of knowing him.  Sensei Minhee, Sensei Nina and Senpai Peter, You are loved by so many. I pray you feel this love and never hesitate to reach out when needed. We share in your grief and will forever keep you and Sensei Kang in our thoughts and prayers. I promise you, he is still with you. Keep your minds open to see his signs as it will give you peace during this difficult time. ❤️TKK Strong❤️

My nephew Naziir took karate lessons with the Sensei family and I was so deeply saddened to hear about his death. Death is never the end. God took his spirit home and he will always look down and observed everything his loved ones are doing. He will give you signs so whatever catches your attention, always remember it's your Dad/husband sending you a sign. (A feather blowing in the wind, a butterfly, a penny on the ground, a song on the radio, a fragrance in the air, a dream, lights or lamps flickering) are some of the signs deceased loved ones are getting your attention. I pray God gives you the strength to carry on because that's what Sensei would have wanted. God Bless your family.
