I'm so glad I got to have him as a part of my life, I just wish it had been for a longer amount of time. He was such an amazing man and truly had the biggest heart ever. I can't believe I won't get to see him and catch up after church anymore. Sundays will never be the same. Love and miss you Tata/Robert ❤

His Life

Rodrigo D. Vargas o mejor conocido por "Peron", "Tata", "Gordo" "Pops"

June 22, 2020

Rodrigo Domingo Vargas; Hijo, amigo, padre, abuelo. ¡Simplemente, Tata!

Rodrigo D. Vargas AKA "Peron", "Tata", "Pops"

June 22, 2020
On Monday, August 4th, 1952, Rodrigo took his first breath of air in this world.
And on Sunday, June 7th, 2020, Rodrigo took his first steps in the world to come (Heaven), at the age of 67.

These are bookends to a book Rodrigo wrote with his life. The space between those two dates is what we celebrate and honor here. A book he prided himself in writing and would often remind his family about it.

Rodrigo was born in the beautiful port city of Valparaiso, Chile also affectionately known as “La Joya del Pacifico”.His life was not always easy. He left his home at the tender age of 15 to work. Something he instilled into anyone that knew him “HARD WORK”.

He fell in love with a childhood friend named Hedda Maria Elena Urquiza and in 1974 they were married.

Chile was under a dictatorship during the late 70s but Rodrigo had a vision of living in a land that was free, a country where hard work pays off and the opportunity to leave a legacy within his heirs, that place is the USA.

He self educated himself english, history, math, oh boy was he good at math. Within a few years he was a successful entrepreneur and over his life built many businesses successfully.

However what he built that will last forever and is his greatest accomplishment is instilling in his children, grandchildren and many friends a strong sense of FAMILY. He believed that a FAMILY is the greatest treasure on earth.

In 2010 with renewed faith in Christ he was baptized by his oldest son Rodrigo Vargas, Jr. and entered into the Kingdom Family which he now enjoys forever.

Rodrigo survived many trials; earthquakes, political persecution, poverty, hunger, loneliness, bankruptcy, heart attacks, typhoid, loss of loved ones… but let us remember him for what he THRIVED at and that was LIFE.

The space between the two dates, the book in between the bookends is an abundant amount of laughs, memories and experiences that no one can take away but his greatest chapters are the following…

His wife, Hedda Maria Elena Urquiza, his children, Rodrigo A. Vargas (wife Sara Vargas), Gonzalo I. Vargas, Hedda C. Serafini (husband Luciano Serafini), and Alejandro J. Vargas (wife Florencia Vargas), his grandchildren, Maximilian Vargas, Victoria Vargas, Carmen Vargas, Eva Vargas, Nicole Vargas, Angelo Vargas, Roman Serafini, Alessandra Serafini, and his great-granddaughter, Mayah Vargas.

Rodrigo Domingo Vargas; Son, Friend, Father, Grandfather. Dad, Pops, Papa, and Tata!

We will see you soon… because as our good friend Mike Barber said a few minutes after he graduated into Heaven “Nothing is ever lost when you know where it is."

Rodrigo Vargas Jr. admired his dad’s admiration of “HARD WORK!”

Gonzalo Vargas will remember that he taught him, one should never let himself be defeated.

Hedda Serafini will cherish his love for FAMILY.

Alejandro Vargas will carry his STRENGTH with him.

Hedda Maria Elena Vargas will miss his love for her and their family, it was always the number one priority in his life.

We will be celebrating Rodrigo’s vibrant life on August 1st 2020.
