On Tuesday, May 14, 2019, Roger L Peterson (82) husband, father, and grandfather passed peacefully away at St. Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick, NJ.  Born December 30, 1936 in Watseka Illinois to Oscar (Pete) Peterson and Gladys Peterson (nee Grant).  He attended Northwestern University and California Institute of Technology, earning a PH.D. in Chemistry.  While doing Post-Doctoral work in a lab at University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, he met his wife of nearly 50 years Margaret G.E. Welton, with whom he raised two daughters.

In retirement, Roger enjoy digital photography and photo editing, international travel and spending time with his grandchildren. Even to the end, his sense of humor and love of learning never deserted him.

Roger is survived by his wife Margaret; his daughters Eleanor and Emily; his grandchildren Linnea, Miles and Lucia; his siblings Louise Calvin and Lawrence (Larry) Peterson;  and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  An open house will be held Sunday, May 19th from 2 to 6pm at Eleanor’s house in Highland Park.  A private family funeral will occur on May 21st at the Steelmantown Cemetery in Steelmantown, NJ.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Lung Association at www.lung.org.
