His Life

Brief story of Roger's life

August 12, 2015

Roger was born in Norfolk, Nebraska on December 2,1944. His parents, Grace and Bill Arns, raised him in Norfolk where he graduated from Norfolk high school.

He joined the Army in 1965 and was stationed at Fort Bliss, Texas where he taught radar equipment procedures. He was honorably discharged in 1967.

In 1968 he moved to the Seattle area where he was employed by Cascade Machinery and Electric for over 43 years.

He married his wife Carol in 1971. They raised two sons, Brian (Tracy) and Doug (Kim). He was very proud to watch his sons grow into two very good husbands, fathers, and even grandparents.

He was very active in his sons lives by participating in coaching and always supporting them in their activities.

He loved being a grandpa to three grandsons Travis, Tyler, and Tyra. He always encouraged them to be good students, honest and hard working citizens. He was extremely proud to become a great grandpa to our much loved Bentley.

When he retired in 2010, Carol and Roger enjoyed traveling in the states. They visited relatives, friends and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of our great country.

He was diagnosed with terminal cancer in November of 2012. He was a very strong person and fought the hardest battle of his life, but in May of 2015 he lost the battle peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.

He will never be forgotten by anyone who knew him and especially by his loving family. He will always be in our hearts and watching over us.

Carol, Brian, Tracy, Doug, Kim, Travis, Tyler, Tyra, and Bentley
