I first met Roger when this blurry eyed guy sauntered into workout about 10 minutes late (not an abnormal occurence in Master's Swimming) and said Hi, can I swim with you guys?  I wanted to be a bit of a wise cracker and say no but Roger flashed that warm smile and I said, "You bet."  As I got to know this joker, I looked forward to seeing him at practice.  There are those that cross your path in life without much fanfare and there are those who make you laugh from day one.  Roger was definitely the latter.  When I visited him in the hospital after his surgery it was obvious that Roger and his wit were still intact, just not verbally.  The warm smile and easy nature were there but after finding out that he was fighting the same battle as his mother, my heart was broken. 

I know the warm smile and easy going cockiness are now back together and he is sauntering with the angels.  Happy Trails, my friend.  I will always miss you.
