Even though Rolf was my cousin, we never had the opportunity to meet. After reading these tributes and memories, I feel that I got to know my cousin and his passing is so very sad. This makes you realize how important and swift life is. I am so sad for your loss.

Rolf…. I still imagine you in the hallway at work – smiling, joking, and taking care of us. Thanks for bringing me CD’s for an event and giving me a copy of one CD I liked – I will treasure. Conversations about your #1 priority – your son Drake. You have left us too soon so I pray your son and family find comfort in memories and know how special you are and will be so missed.

Rolf, what an INCREDIBLE man. I remember when you arrived at Weyerhaeuser, all of the girls swooned & wondered who the new guy was. You always had a smile on your face & a twinkle in your eye. Thanks for being a friend & helping me move from my apt & for all of your incredible AV help over the years. There is no one like you & I know your son will follow your footsteps, Love You Dude!!

I am thankful for the opportunity to know you, Rolf. Your kindness had no boundaries. I am going to miss sharing stories about our teen boys. It was always fun to hear what Drake was up to and see your eyes sparkle when you spoke of him. You will be missed my friend ~ Until we meet again.

Rolf, you were the guy who rode into town in a white hat and saved the day, the good guy who smiled confidently and said you’d take care of it. You stood by your word. When you were around, we were never worried about a glitch or problem. You got it done. You made us smile. You were the person who everyone trusted and everybody liked. You are missed already, more than we can ever describe.

Rolf was the best kind of employee and friend. Always available, always willing to do whatever it would take to get the job done even if it wasn't his job. It was my honor to have known him for all of his years at Weyerhaeuser. He will be missed.

I wonder how many of our conversations started with, “Hey Rolf, how do I ….?” Countless! But you always found the answer. The most amazing thing was how you knew what we needed before we even asked. We ALL noticed the sparkle in your eyes when Drake’s name was mentioned. To a wonderful friend and valued team member - I am so fortunate to have known you. I will always miss you.

I remember when Rolf first came to Weyerhaeuser long ago. He was quite a dashing, handsome young man! I enjoyed working with him through the years on many projects. There was no one more conscientious and concerned that everything would go smoothly. What I remember most is how much he absolutely adored his son. We will miss him very much. His love remains.

E-mail from Ty Harker:
Hi Aunt Joyce. I'm really sorry to hear about cousin Rolf. I remember him being so nice at the Thanksgiving dinner and talking to me about my Dad and telling me to ask him to get ahold of him. I also remember thinking he had a very good way with his son. A kindness and patience I hope I can convey to my own children some day. Please pass on my condolences to Lisa and Kathy.

My first memory of Rolf was at CCB. He was so helpful and friendly and I knew we could count on him to solve all our technical problems. I remember him being so excited about being a dad. Here we are 12 years later, in addition to still being helpful and friendly, he turned out to be a great father to Drake. I will miss you Rolf!

Rolf, one of the things I miss most about Weyerhaeuser is working with you on various company forums and meetings.
Your sense of humor and the way you handled high pressure with a serious attitude and a grin will be missed.
I'm glad I had the honor of knowing you.

Dear Rolf, I'll always remember fondly you taking care of my shortcomings on computer issues and catching me when I double-booked meeting rooms - I'm sure you were shaking your head sometimes! More importantly I remember the pride you felt when talking about Drake and your mom. You were such an asset to Weyerhaeuser and the senior team and a wonderful son and father. You will be missed.

Rolf, I am saddened by your death. I wish now that I had told you what I will write here. I took for granted that you knew and now I will be sure Drake knows. You were reliable and trustworthy. You did what you said and offered unconditional support to each task. I asked for help so many times, and always you were there. You anticipated what I might need. You were more than friend.

Rolf was a quiet and reliable professional who went about his work with little fanfare.  He was an icon and very well liked and regarded.  Thanks Roflf for supporting many of the presentations and events I needed your help on.  You are a true professional and beloved associate.

So sorry to hear this news. Rolf was one of those people who all of us came to depend upon and yet we never let him know how much we appreciated his support. His quiet, steady demeanor and ability to solve our technical issues in an unflappable way were special. I had a chance to get to know Rolf a bit on our board travels. Hard to believe he is now gone, but we will remember him fondly

Rolf was always a "ready and available" guy. Whenever I was in crisis about technology - he was my go-to person. What a loss to all of us at Weyerhaeuser. My favorite memory was when Drake was up on the 5th floor earlier this year and he wanted to show me his latest hip hop moves. He was great and Rolf's love and pride in his son was very evident. We will miss him.

I will miss your face at my desk with that sly smile as you tell me I have booked my meeting over top someone else's meeting...after I go pale and begin to sweat, I realize you were joking...funny man. I will miss hearing about all of Drake's adventures, running track and his girlfriends! Most of all...I miss you.
Love you always

Rolf, I am truly going to miss you. Thank you for being such a great guy. I was with Beverly when Drake showed us his hip hop moves, and it will be my favorite memory too. It was awesome. Keep on dancing, kiddo.

The years fly by so fast and our lives have changed so much but we all miss you and talk of favorite memories with you. We will have a chocolate pie for you at Kathys Thanksgiving gathering. This year we will add Cameron and Andy to our family and a black lab to our mixed group of dogs. You loved dogs so would have appreciated sloppyt kisses and wagging tales. Yove you heaps. Mom

The two of us are together tonight and reminiscing about you Rolf. Mom misses your big bear hugs and (jinx) we both just mentioned your sly grin! Oh how excited you were when you found out that you would be a Dad. :-) Mom just told me a story that i never knew...that you rescued a woman in the Fred Meyer parking lot who had locked her baby inside her car by using a coat hanger!

You are loved, you are missed, and you are cherished...

Rolf and Take your Child to Work Day

April 11, 2012

The last time I saw Rolf was in the fitness center with his son, Drake during Take your child to work day.  We were able to catch up and he was enjoying the day with his son at work. I think of Rolf often and it reminds me to say " I love you" to my family every day - no matter how hectic things get.

December 13, 2011

We had a breakfast feed for Rolf and Drake when they were up to visit Alaska.  The kidlets (left to right) are my daughter Veaya, Kristen's daughter Davis, Rolf's son Drake, and Kristen's son Bryce.
