Rolf and Take your Child to Work Day

April 11, 2012

The last time I saw Rolf was in the fitness center with his son, Drake during Take your child to work day.  We were able to catch up and he was enjoying the day with his son at work. I think of Rolf often and it reminds me to say " I love you" to my family every day - no matter how hectic things get.

We had a breakfast feed for Rolf and Drake when they were up to visit Alaska.  The kidlets (left to right) are my daughter Veaya, Kristen's daughter Davis, Rolf's son Drake, and Kristen's son Bryce.

This picture really makes me laugh at the expression on Rolf's face and the silly blue poombah hats. I love it.

When I heard the news I was saddened and shocked. Rolf I’ll always remember the times we shared together, and you will never be forgotten. Your family Rolf, I will keep them in my thoughts and prayers.

When you came by to visit with Drake when he four years old, I could still see that sparkle in your eyes and your smile gleaming from ear to ear. You were so proud and in love with being his Dad. I know you were a great father as I saw it when you were with my children.

I remember when Rolf first started working at Weyerhaeuser. He was handsome, dashing, very sweet, and had a sparkle in his eyes. We shared time together and had some fun adventures. We went camping up in the mountains by a river. Rolf loved camping and ruffing it. It was hot there and we both wore short shorts. Haha.

We took a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida and he was fascinated by all the cool stuff in the mens lounge at the Hard Rock Café. He was impressed that there was mens cologne in there and a conceirge handed him a towel to dry his hands with. He had to take a picture. He was so cute and full of excitement when he told me about all the cool stuff in there. What an adventure we had in Florida.

Rolf made the Best beef jerky. He used his layered shelf cooker to make it with. He spent some time preparing and getting everything ready to cook. When it was done, it was Delicious and the Best!

RIP Rolf!!!

Rolf was fascinated and very impressed with all the amenities in the mens restroom. There was even a conceirge who handed him a hand towel to dry his hands with.

It was breath taking at Daytona Beach. Rolf's the one on the left.

i met rolf 15 years ago. he was currently dating drakes mother at the time. He even at one time stayed with myself and my exhusband. Rolf was always fun to be around. One of my foundest memories is when we all took a trip to snoqaulmie falls when i was seven months pregnant with my son. There are several occasions i can recall, too many to list. He was a great person, always inviting and hospitable. He was a great uncle to my kids, as well as to my nieces and nephews. Although life took unexpected turns, Rolf was always very pleasent when we would run into one another from time to time.

My son

I remember the day we brought our Rolf home from the hospital.  He weighed 4lbs 13oz and we called him our little "pot roast".  He brought great joy to our household.  His sisters fussed over him and through the years of his growing up were a great support and influence.  Some of my favorite memories were when i was camping alone at Denny Creek and Rolf would show up with dinner and make a fire for us.  We had some good chats around the fire.  I will miss his teasing and his smile.  He was always willing to help me-whether it was moving things or digging holes to plant something in my yard.    Rolf was so proud of Drake.  He took great pains to help him prepare for class projects - the picture slideshow of "Where the Red Fern Grows" was one that stands out in my mind.

I am proud of the man (and father) that Rolf grew into and i miss him dearly.

I find myself wishing that I had stopped to have a little chat with Rolf the last time I walked by his office on the 5th floor.  But, I was busy and so was he and I thought there would be another time.  Rolf was a very bright light in our Weyerhaeuser Family and he will be missed so much by so many.  I relied on his knowledge and expertise countless times over the years and I loved the twinkle in his eyes and his smile.
