Ron Hallam, known as Big Ron, of Shelley Street, Holmewood, has died at Millfield Care Home, Bolsover, aged 78.
Born at Poolsbrook and a lifelong resident of the area, he was a retired coal miner who went on to drive lorries and buses.
He enjoyed tinkering with cars, making things out of wood, going to car boot sales, shopping, bingo and going out for meals with his family and friends.
The widower of Doreen, he leaves a son, seven daughters, 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren with another imminent and one great-great-grandchild. Many people remember him as the funny tormenting man he used to be. he was so loving and all off his family have many many happy memories that we all cherish, sleep tight blue grandad. we love you.
