Ron went out to East Africa 11.6.59 served in Bahrain and Zanzibar .

Returning to UK 22.2 62. Wellington Barracks. He was demobed 19.9.81


We meet 3 3.62. We where together for 47 years married for 45years.

The best years of my life was with this lovely man, he was Loving, Kind,Thoughtful.

Generous and Hard working .

He loved his son , Andrew who also joined The Coldstream Guards.   He was a proud Grand Father to Laura , Katie, Ben.


Ron is a big loss in our lives, and every day we remember him with love and pride.
          
 

Ron was born in Upper Poppelton York.on Sept 18th 1940.

He was the oldest of 7 children.

He went to school in Thorganby and Fullford York. After leaving school he went to work for Rowntrees in York.This was not his calling so along to the recruting office he went,     He joined The Coldstream Guards on 17th Nov 1958 just turned 18 yrs.

Off he went to Caterham for his training , meeting up with other raw teenagers wonting to better there lives.
