I apologize for my late response.
I was very saddened to hear of Ron’s passing.
I first met him (virtually) when watching the infamous movie “The Adventures of Mad Dog”. I’ve adored him ever since.
My fondest and most irreverent memory of Ron goes back to the ‘80s. “The Big Chill” Group had met in Peterborough for a reunion. There was inhaling and inbibing of certain substances which lead to loosing track of time.
Suddenly, Ron realized it was time to go to the station for his shift. We were asked if anyone wanted to follow Ron in his car so we could have a tour of the place and then return to the reunion. I was always the designated driver (by choice) and I took Bob and Reg in my car.
Ron was driving like a bat out of hell to meet his show time. I had no clue where we were going so I had to stick close to him. After running a couple of red lights, and taking sharp corners to keep up to Mad Dog, it was too much for one of my passengers. Bob had the presence of mind at least to lean out the window and proceeded to empty the contents of his stomach all down the side of my car. Despite this I continued my mission to tail MD to his destination.
Ron made it in time, just barely. We did not get a tour and I took my passengers back to the party.
It was an AWESOME weekend and got to see the more serious side of Ron in his effort to get to work on time no matter what!
I hope you are somewhere in the afterword raising hell and/or making people laugh with your AWESOME sense of humour.
You will be missed.
