Ron was drafted into the US Army and went to Fort Gordon, Georgia. This was peacetime between the Korean and Vietnam wars. He had many, many stories about his time in the army.
Ron was stuck in NYC during the great Northeast blackout of 1965. He had to walk all the way through the city and across the bridge to get home that evening.
I can't imagine what that was like....
Ron always related the story about how he went to highschool with the guys who sang the song "Who Wears Short Shorts?" The band was the Royal Teens and the song was released in 1957.
