Ron went to be with his Lord and Savior after a short illness. He was living at Resthaven Care Center since the end of November 2013 after he fell and inured his back and spent three months at Heartland Nursing Rehabilitation center. It was at that time Ron felt he could no longer return to his apartment at McIntosh Manor where he has lived for 13 years, during which time he made lots of friends.

Ron had a very strong faith in God and was a faithful member of Central Wesleyan Church for many years attending Sunday services and Sunday School classes on a regular basis. Almost everyone knew Ron because he sat in the very front row of church and loved to sing with the congregation. Ron was always quick to share his faith with others and was eager to help others when he was able. He had good friends who would pick him up for church and after words help with transportation to appointments in Grand Rapids. (special thanks from Dennis to Bob Meyer and Pastor Larry Johnson for their help in providing transportation).

Ron spent the last several years in a wheelchair and for the past three years using an electric chair which gave him more freedom to go places on his own when the weather permitted. He used the Max Bus System frequently for shopping and other outings and at times brother Dennis would take him to appointments and out to lunch.

He will be missed by my family, many friends, and the missionaries that Ron emailed on a frequent basis and included in his daily prayers each morning in his regular devotions. It has been several months, due to his health issues, that he has been unable to contact anyone by email, but he continued to cover them with God's blessings in his prayers.

Ron told me on a many occasions that he was looking forward to the day he would go to heaven and see his Lord and also to see Mom, Dad, and brother Jerry who preceded him in death.

This remembrance is written to share some of Ron's recent thoughts and experiences. No memorial service is being planned at this time. Please remember Ron the way you knew him when he was living among us, because he would tell you that he would want you to have the confidence he had in knowing that God loved him and that he is now in his arms for eternity.
