This memorial website was created in memory of our parents, Roque and Genevieve D'Silva. We will remember them forever.

Dad - Roque Dsilva

Prince Philip, who passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99, undoubtedly has been called a ‘Man of Service.’ This is because of his tremendous commitment to serving his country and Commonwealth, his wife and Queen, and the family. He did this faithfully till the end of his life.

In the same way, we do see our dad as a Prince of God and being the chosen servant of Christ. He was faithful in serving God, his spouse Genevieve, children Vivian, married to Richard and Glen, married to Rachel, his grandchildren (Rosh, Gabriel, Olivia, and Royce) without any reservation.

Most of the time, he is referred to as Roque Sir or Sir Roque.

So here are few words about the person and service.

To Sir Roque with love

SIR stands for

S – Servitude

The first thing that comes to my mind about Dad is that he was a man of service. There was no point in time that he would say no to doing anything. He was a machine when it comes to doing things. Till his last breath, he was committed to doing things for his wife, children, and grandchildren. The reason that people sought his help was that he was approachable. His presence never threatened you. His humble posture, warm smile, and gentle speech would melt any hardened heart when engaged. He was always ready to serve the Church, home, and community in season and out of season. He faithfully served as Pastor of New Life Fellowship, worked hard in leading the family, and labored hard as a teacher.

I – Inspirational

The second thing is that he was a man of inspiration. He always inspired you to work hard. I’ve heard stories of students who studied under him. Now they are working as professional doctors, investors, etc. They all can testify how his teaching truly transformed their lives for good. His love for Math was indeed an inspiration for the entire family.  He also motivated his grandchildren to do their studies well by doing regular zoom classes in Math. His love for God and his Word is so contagious that you cannot but imitate it. He looked like a man who was always in the presence of God because of his attitude toward worship. For daddy, worship was a lifestyle, and no matter where he is or what time was it, he was always ready to pray, worship, and share the Word.

R – Reverent

The last thing I would like to share is that he was a man who was reverent in his attitude towards his wife, children, and others. He never mixed things that happened privately in public. He always took it with a sense of smile as if nothing happened. Even though he indeed went through difficult times, but he never let his problems, situations affect his public life and ministry. He handled it well like a gentleman. He did masquerade well in hiding his pain sometimes. He spent time at home helping with doing his chores without any hesitation. His relationship with children or grandchildren was with utmost patience and love. He showed humility in almost everything and never seen him complaining about anything.

Finally, our dad left behind a legacy of service, inspiration, and reverence. May His Soul, Spirit, and Body be blameless in the presence of Christ.

Mom - Genevieve Dsilva

Jewish Anne Frank, who hid 1942 from the Nazis but later discovered and died in a concentration camp, once said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.”
This is the epitome of what Genevieve's life was all about. She was a giver, and it embodies her personal investment in people.

Mom was sacrificial in her love for the family. She signed up for her big-time investment in raising us up. She did not leave any stone unturned when her only focus was to see her children grow and develop spiritually, mentally, and physically. She spent restless days and nights caring for us and my dad at times, when we were sick or when there was a need to serve.

Most of our memories of her personal engagement with people have to do with making investments in Tupperware vessels and selling them to others during her old days. Sometimes she would ask others to try it out before they're interested in buying it. At other times, she would gift it to them from her personal repository. She would love to see others making the best use of it as it served the purpose to their benefit.

We remember her acts of kindness in being part of rearing our grandchildren by providing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support. She showed her utmost love and affection to them by willing to share toys and other material goods.

Every conversation was always about care and concerns, and she ended every talk with a blessing. Whether it was their children, grandchildren, neighbor, or strangers, she never discriminated in sharing God's blessing with them. Wherever mummy went or whomever she met was usually blessed with a gift given from her heart.

She was the first one to plan for wishing us on our birthday or anniversary. She always sent us beautiful greeting cards with wonderful words of Scriptural blessings. We will indeed miss those cards on the table and also the special call of wishes and prayer.

Mom and Dad showed us what it means to serve their children and grandchildren. They were always ready to do things no matter what time of the day. They served people at the Church or with people who knew them personally.

Please find a collection of their beautiful memories and please feel free to add a tribute and photos to the collection. We believe that our parents have definitely been a blessing to many friends and families around us.

I’m going to be 50 next year and I still hate Maths. But I’ve always said “the only good thing about Maths was Roque D’Silva”. I could write an essay about him but I’ll say this much for now - Roque epitomised what it meant to be a teacher – he was passionate about his trade, he was disciplined and above all, he was a loving father to us all.

In 1986, the school decided to segregate it’s 5 divisions in Years 9 and 10 by academic competency. If Class A was the cream at the top, then Class E was the sour curd at the bottom. And Roque only taught Classes D & E because he wanted to fight for the underdogs. Not surprisingly, those 2 classes scored higher in Maths than us spoiled brats in A & B.

I don’t think I ever saw him without a smile on his face. Even when he turned away from the blackboard to face the class because we were causing a ruckus behind his back.. that firm stare looked like it was about to crack into a cheeky smile. We would fall silent immediately.. but never out of fear, always respect.

Requiescant in Pace Roque, I share a birthday with you and my wedding anniversary.. intercede for us!

Uncle Roque and Aunty Genny will always be remembered as one of my favourite uncles and aunts. Their generosity, kindness, and hospitality was matchless. Uncle Roque always had smile on his face no matter what. His patience, wisdom, and calmness was something I always admired. Aunty Genny’s joyful heart always made us feel at home. Going to Vasai always meant going to Uncle Roque and Aunty Genny’s. She made sure we never left home without being well fed and treated us like her own kids. She would randomly call to check on me which always brought a smile to my heart. I have always known Aunty Genny as my Dad’s closest sibling cause of the humble and generous nature that they shared. Both, Uncle Roque & Aunty Genny, were a tremendous blessing to my Dad and Mum’s ministry. Their happiness was in seeing others, mainly the underprivileged, happy and investing in God’s kingdom. It’s still hard to believe that they are no longer with us but I know for a fact that they fought the good race and are enjoying in the presence of the Heavenly Father & I know we will see them one day in the hope that we have in Christ. They will always be irreplaceable and when I think of them, I will do so with a smile.

Sending lots of love, hugs, and prayers to Vivian, Glen, and family.

So grateful to uncle and aunty for all they did for us. We were so blessed to have had them in our lives. I remember when dad would send us there for overnight stay when he was working late and they both made us feel at home. They were so kind and faithful and opened their house for having church services. I remember learning maths from uncle and he always had such a way of making it all so simple to understand and learn.
We will miss them so much but know they are in a better place and we will see them one day.
Praying for you all vivian and glen and family. We are sending love and our deepest condolences. Praying for Gods comfort and peace in this difficult time.
Lots of love, jeniba.

Uncle and Aunty have been such a blessing to us all. God servants, always encouraging, serving, giving and hospitable. Uncle has never said no to anything. He would go out of his way to help even if he would come home so tired. Aunty has always been so loving and giving.
It’s a huge loss for all of us. We may not be able to express our feelings in words. Its like a part of us is missing. They will always be in our hearts and alive in sweet memories.
But one thing for sure, they are in a much better place or I can say the best place - free from all the cares, worries and pain of this world, safe and secure. Heaven is being populated with all Gods generals, I wonder what it will like there.
Viv, be strong and take courage because we have the assurance that we will see them on the day of the Lord.
Love, peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit to Vivian, Glen, Dsilva’s, Dsouza’s and Nadar’s family

My Grandparents by Royce Nadar

August 1, 2021
Throughout the years, I'd listen to conversations between classmates in my school about their grandparents. Most of their grandfathers or grandmothers has passed away when they were very small or around the time of their birth. I didn't realize it at the time but later I would understand the value of having spent time with them, as well as the knowledge that they passed on to me along with their love. My grandfather always had a kind heart that was generous and full of giving to others and those around him. Spending summers in India, my parents would usually leave the house leaving me and my sister with our grandparents. It seemed like every time my grandfather would spend with us, it was to learn about math skills, problems and tricks. I found it tiresome as well as my sister but my grandfather's love language was through his math that he taught which was hard to see at that time. He helped so many students that were around him through his actions as a math tutor blessing those around him with his talent. My grandfather created a legacy that will never fade and till this day inspires me to create a legacy like his. My grandmother's love language however was through her actions. She would treat me like I was her own child displaying her love in the phone calls that were year round long. Sometimes I wish that she would treat me as an adult, but her love for me remained the same regardless of my age. Before I could create memories, my grandmother was taking care of me since I was baby when my mom stepped out of the house coming out of her comfort zone by travelling from India to Hong Kong. Both my Mai and Papa (Grandmother and Grandfather) have created memories for me as well as others and although they are not with us on this earth, their actions will be remembered by those that they loved and helped throughout the years.

Uncle Roque

July 25, 2021

A father is implored to bring their children up in the ways of the Lord, to discipline them and to encourage, comfort and instruct them.

Uncle Roque who's been so close with me and with my family from past 6 months. The person who always carried a generous heart for every person and a great disciple/follower of Christ.

The person who's always been close to me, praying for me out of nowhere to get a job. Talking to uncle was always a new experience sharing all his struggles and God's hand over his life.

Uncle Roque always carried a heart for God. Always served God with everything he had. Loved God with everything and always been and spoke blessing for everyone. Uncle Roque carries a greatest example of being Humble, Kind, Patience, Generous and served people in every possible way.

Uncle Roque whom I knew in person from past 8 years till date. All I knew about him was an Excellent Maths teacher that's all I knew about Uncle Roque before meeting him in person.

My sister was one of his students. Where Uncle used to teach her maths. And she scored best in that subject. In a mean time even I had an opportunity learning maths from uncle roque where I still remember him quoting the sentence, (when I was learning maths during my school time) Which said....
1. Same sign add and put the same sign
2. Different sign subtract and put the greater sign

I never felt like calling Uncle Sir. Because of his behavior being humble, patient and kind to me during learning. I always saw him as a father figure and has always spoken blessing over my life.

All I can say is Thank you Uncle for everything❤
Yes it definitely makes me sad of you not being around but at the same time it makes me happy that you're in a better place where we'll be with the uppermost father serving and worshipping him.
