This memorial website was created in memory of our parents, Roque and Genevieve D'Silva. We will remember them forever.
Dad - Roque Dsilva
Prince Philip, who passed away on April 9, 2021, at the age of 99, undoubtedly has been called a ‘Man of Service.’ This is because of his tremendous commitment to serving his country and Commonwealth, his wife and Queen, and the family. He did this faithfully till the end of his life.
In the same way, we do see our dad as a Prince of God and being the chosen servant of Christ. He was faithful in serving God, his spouse Genevieve, children Vivian, married to Richard and Glen, married to Rachel, his grandchildren (Rosh, Gabriel, Olivia, and Royce) without any reservation.
Most of the time, he is referred to as Roque Sir or Sir Roque.
So here are few words about the person and service.
To Sir Roque with love
SIR stands for
S – Servitude
The first thing that comes to my mind about Dad is that he was a man of service. There was no point in time that he would say no to doing anything. He was a machine when it comes to doing things. Till his last breath, he was committed to doing things for his wife, children, and grandchildren. The reason that people sought his help was that he was approachable. His presence never threatened you. His humble posture, warm smile, and gentle speech would melt any hardened heart when engaged. He was always ready to serve the Church, home, and community in season and out of season. He faithfully served as Pastor of New Life Fellowship, worked hard in leading the family, and labored hard as a teacher.
I – Inspirational
The second thing is that he was a man of inspiration. He always inspired you to work hard. I’ve heard stories of students who studied under him. Now they are working as professional doctors, investors, etc. They all can testify how his teaching truly transformed their lives for good. His love for Math was indeed an inspiration for the entire family. He also motivated his grandchildren to do their studies well by doing regular zoom classes in Math. His love for God and his Word is so contagious that you cannot but imitate it. He looked like a man who was always in the presence of God because of his attitude toward worship. For daddy, worship was a lifestyle, and no matter where he is or what time was it, he was always ready to pray, worship, and share the Word.
R – Reverent
The last thing I would like to share is that he was a man who was reverent in his attitude towards his wife, children, and others. He never mixed things that happened privately in public. He always took it with a sense of smile as if nothing happened. Even though he indeed went through difficult times, but he never let his problems, situations affect his public life and ministry. He handled it well like a gentleman. He did masquerade well in hiding his pain sometimes. He spent time at home helping with doing his chores without any hesitation. His relationship with children or grandchildren was with utmost patience and love. He showed humility in almost everything and never seen him complaining about anything.
Finally, our dad left behind a legacy of service, inspiration, and reverence. May His Soul, Spirit, and Body be blameless in the presence of Christ.
Mom - Genevieve Dsilva
Jewish Anne Frank, who hid 1942 from the Nazis but later discovered and died in a concentration camp, once said, “No one has ever become poor by giving.”
This is the epitome of what Genevieve's life was all about. She was a giver, and it embodies her personal investment in people.
Mom was sacrificial in her love for the family. She signed up for her big-time investment in raising us up. She did not leave any stone unturned when her only focus was to see her children grow and develop spiritually, mentally, and physically. She spent restless days and nights caring for us and my dad at times, when we were sick or when there was a need to serve.
Most of our memories of her personal engagement with people have to do with making investments in Tupperware vessels and selling them to others during her old days. Sometimes she would ask others to try it out before they're interested in buying it. At other times, she would gift it to them from her personal repository. She would love to see others making the best use of it as it served the purpose to their benefit.
We remember her acts of kindness in being part of rearing our grandchildren by providing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual support. She showed her utmost love and affection to them by willing to share toys and other material goods.
Every conversation was always about care and concerns, and she ended every talk with a blessing. Whether it was their children, grandchildren, neighbor, or strangers, she never discriminated in sharing God's blessing with them. Wherever mummy went or whomever she met was usually blessed with a gift given from her heart.
She was the first one to plan for wishing us on our birthday or anniversary. She always sent us beautiful greeting cards with wonderful words of Scriptural blessings. We will indeed miss those cards on the table and also the special call of wishes and prayer.
Mom and Dad showed us what it means to serve their children and grandchildren. They were always ready to do things no matter what time of the day. They served people at the Church or with people who knew them personally.
Please find a collection of their beautiful memories and please feel free to add a tribute and photos to the collection. We believe that our parents have definitely been a blessing to many friends and families around us.
