Her Life

Rosa Ellis (Murr) was born January 10, 1914. She was 99 Years wise. Praise God!     

She was born and raised in Red Oak, Georgia. She married Cottrell Ellis and moved to Lone Oak, Georgia. For the last several years she lived in Atlanta, Georgia. She has two daughters, Annie Joyce Hardaway (Jolly) and Constance Ruth Martin (Connie). And, she raised several other children (including Verdell Rosson, John Ellis, Howard (Shorty) Ashby and the deceased Delores Dorsey, Alicestine Draggs, Jacqueline Turner, Joel Ellis, Carlton Ellis and Tommie Ashby). And, assisted with the rearing of Tommie Jean Fordham and a host of others. She had a  twin brother (deceased), Robert Mathis (Uncle Robert) who she loved dearly. She leaves behind two son-in-laws Hulit Hardaway and Billie Martin; grandchildren Sheral Hardaway Kemp- Mizell, Faye Hardaway, Ronald Hardaway (Brenda) and Sharon (Joy) Martin and the late Alan Martin; great grandchildren Roderick Kemp, YaDonnis Hardaway (Rosaida), Jairius Hardaway (Tawanda), Breyona Hardaway-Sharpnack (Zaine), Traevis Griggs, Alexis Martin and Xavius Martin and; great great grandchildren DeGene Reynolds, YaDonnis Hardaway, Sylvia Jamison, Braylon Hardaway, JaRodd Kemp, Cameron Sharpnack, Kennedy Sharpnack and Ashton Hardaway and; a host of other dear relatives, neighbors and friends.     

She was a member of St. Paul CME church for over 50 years and was on the Stewardess board. She was also an honorary member of the AURS Lodge and the Uniques Senior Citizens of Perkerson Park Recreation Center. She made her transition Jan. 17, 2013 while at home sleeping.
