Mom's 90th birthday

June 6, 2015

We had a wonderful time for mom's 90th birthday eating Chinese food and drinking champagne. She was in excellent spirits that day.

Some things about mom

June 6, 2015

Mom made her own rules.

Mom had more chutzpah than any human in history.

Mom always told us that we could be anything that we wanted to be but that we had to be the best at whatever we did. "If you're going to be a bum, you have to be the best bum out there!"

Mom was an amazing musician and could play virtually any instrument.

Mom was always looking for a deal - a lot of the deals that she found really weren't.

Mom was an amazing cook who was not afraid to experiment - sometimes her experiments were not exactly palatable though.

Mom always had a pot of "shmorgl" (her word for smorgasbord in a pot) simmering on the stove. That's where leftovers went and nobody ever quite knew when the pot was first started or what exactly was in it. Sometimes it was awesome. Sometimes not so much.

Mom loved a party! She was always game to go to or throw one.

Mom was a people person. She loved to be with people.

Mom didn't have the best fashion sense. The velvet hot pants incident would be better forgotten than retold.

Mom may have been the worst driver in history to not kill anyone on the road. It was truly terrifying getting into a car with her.

Mom could and would park her car in a spot that was 10% too small for it (not without the expected consequences though).

Mom never left any doubt in your mind that you were loved. She was full of love and lavished it on everyone.

Mom will be missed and never forgotten.

I love you Mom!
