I'm thinking of Rosalind, recently joined by my brother Laurence on August 21, singing and laughing. Is there an angelic version of the Bumble Bee Boogie she used to play for us? :)

Happy Birthday up in heaven mom! Life has gone on but your memory is still very much alive. I think about you all the time and wish you were here. I need you...I wish I could talk to you. You would be so proud of your kids and grandkids and what we have accomplished. These past 2 years have been hard without you but I know your watching out for me...keep singing and making music up there as I hear you in my dreams. You have impacted my life more than you know and I love you with all of my heart mom...♡♡♡

Dear Rosalind, so full of fun, laughter, & music. She would always play the Bumble Bee Boogie for us cousins on demand, tell jokes, & include everyone in the fun. I will always remember her powerful performance of "The Lord is My Light and My Salvation" at the high school CBA Music Competition at Biola College. "... the Lord is the strength of my life ..." Be at peace in Jesus, Roz

Rosalind's sudden illness & passing serves as a reminder to all of us to live each day to the fullest; we never know when God will call us home. Rosalind will be greatly missed but she left us knowing that she was deeply loved and respected in all facets of her life. My very deepest sympathies to her entire family. Rest in Peace, my friend.

Paul and I first meant Roz when we starting going to Lorraine Ave Baptist Church. She adopted us as "family" and talked us into joining the choir. She helped me find my singing voice and gave me the confidence to to loudly lift my voice to Our Lord. She included us in so many family get togethers where we were accepted as if we were blood relations. We love her very much and miss her.

Besides enjoying her wonderful cooking I always loved sitting next her on the piano bench listening as she played beautiful music!

I will always remember the last time I saw Rosalind. It was a few years ago on a Wednesday night at Christ Community Church. She was standing behind me and as we started to sing I heard a voice I could never forget. I turned around and smiled.. I told her I couldn't hear her and motioned for her to sing louder. Well, she did. It brought back many great memories of High School.

Rosalind has been a dear friend for so many years. We sang together, played instruments together, enjoyed card games (she was good!), laughed together, and shared many other memories. Rosalind was a gifted lady, a trophy of God's creative and excellent work. Rosalind, we will miss you dearly until we are with you again around the Heavenly keyboard. My heart is with all her dear family.

The Lord Is My Light

June 8, 2021
Many years ago in Southern California, the church  denomination we were in had an annual youth vocal and instrumental music competition held at Biola College. My church’s youth choir was very good, and our accompanist was a very accomplished organist also competing. I had just been able to join our church’s high school choir (being in 8th grade) and was excited to participate with my older brother who was also in the choir.

My cousin Rosalind was a regular competitor as well in piano and vocal (her Church was in the same domination). Still, I was pleasantly surprised to see her walk out on stage during the vocal solo portion, and calmly look at the crowded performance venue there - including competitors, take a deep breath and give full-diaphragm  “all stops out” rendition of  “The Lord is My Light and My Salvation.” This arrangement needs a powerful voice to cover the range and soaring phrasing. Roz gave it full justice, to say the least!
In my mind I can still hear her building in intensity - “The Lord is the strength of my life, in whom shall I be afraid?” I think Roz must still be singing that our Lord is her Light, enjoying the throngs around who also are joining in the song.

As I reflect back on the years of knowing Rosalind I can say that I am so grateful for the good times we had together, beginning with in the early years when we were first married. Every Friday night (sometimes we would sneak a day in during the week) we would get together and play Rook until 3:00 and 4:00 in the morning. I was glad that Roz and I were partners because together we could not be beat! Well the guys may disagree…Once we moved to Auburn our weekly games would have to be annual but we would always pick up where we left off, playing Rook and laughing the night away.  Like her music she never skipped a beat, playing Rook while nursing and changing her babies at the same time. I will always remember our trips to the K Street Mall during the holiday visits; they too were filled with fun and laughter. Our children grew and time went by but we always had a great time filled with memories and love for each other when ever we got together. I will be forever grateful for her visit last year! God gave us one last visit to ride the trail and the chance to share the things that were on our hearts. . Rosalind had a voice like an angel, was a great teacher, a women of immense Christian faith, and a great sister-in-law. I will always be grateful for the memories until we meet again. It seems like Rosalind has been a part of most of my life. Her family and ours would get together for fun games and visiting and delicious meals. Rosalind was a fantastic cook. I remember when she invited me to a women's retreat with her sister and mom and we painted ceramic snowmen and had so much fun talking and laughing together. I loved her piano playing when we sang in a gospel group and also her beautiful soprano voice. Playing card games around the kitchen table was a highlight of our family get-togethers. When we moved to the mountains, we enjoyed having them visit us. And then when we moved to Georgia, she showed hospitality in return. Several times we were invited to stay at her house. Rosalind has a very giving heart, is always joyful, fun, and a faithful friend. I miss her so much I can't stop thinking about her. I can't believe she is gone. My heart aches for her family and myself. I love you Rosalind. I didn't say it enough. Always your friend and I can't wait to see you in Heaven.
