Wao... another year has rolled over. 18th of September is a day that I will live to cherish. It would have been another birthday of yours but Heaven needs you up there.
Mummy, you were such a caring and compassionate person who taught me motherhood. Always ready to give all to make me happy.
I pray that when I get to heaven our joy will know no bound...never to part again at the feet of Jesus.

Love you Mummy, keep resting in the Lord.

To my loving and caring mother, Mrs Rosaline Abioye Orimoloye

No words can describe the feeling when I realise that you are no more. It’s a feeling like no other. I still remember our last video call on your way to the hospital, it feels like it’s been hundreds of years since I last saw your warm and loving face. No one can really understand the pain of going through life without such an important part of you. I still remember your words, Baba make sure you say the rosary everyday; Baba, make sure you're prayerful.

You taught me love, patience and endurance. You taught me how to pray and led by example. You praised me whenever I did good. You encouraged me to work hard and taught me how appreciate what I have and to be grateful.

It feels like you passed on just too soon. You would have been 88 years old yesterday,19th of September.

I LOVE YOU MUM, REST IN PEACE.

From you Son, Babajide Orimoloye

Dear Mum, you would have clocked 88 years today and we had plans to all fly down to celebrate with you in a special way but it was not meant to be. The Lord needed you in heaven to join the Angelic host on 16/04/21.
We thank God for giving us such a wonderful mother who lived such a holy life and who showered so much love on everyone who came her way. I miss you so much mummy and life is not the same without you. Going home is not the same and everywhere seems so empty. However I feel your spirit around me when I am low and I am confident you are looking down on us all from heaven praying with us and interceding for us.
Rest on in peace mum, till we meet again at the feet of Jesus. I love you mum mum

I cannot but cherish the memory of my sister, Mrs Rosalie Abioye Orimoloye.
She was my big sister, about 18 years older, but of the same mother She was too big a sister for me to remember much interaction with her before she went out of the country. All I knew was that more people called my mother Iya Bioye (Bioye's mother) than they call her by any other child's name - not even me, the last in the row.
My real memory of her started when she came back to Nigeria with two children, Gboyega and Sola.
I enjoyed spending my holidays with her, not just because she was the newest in the family, but because everything about her was to show me love. This she did in everyway possible. In return I loved her.
She had a very large family because everyone who came her way was equally important and loved: be it a house-help, a relation too distant for mention, an in-law, a co-worker or a neighbor.
To my mother, our mother, she was in very many ways special. This my mother told me on different occasions.
In diverse ways, she was a different person compared to the rest of us in the family....
I doubt ever seeing her throw tantrums.
When she didn't agree with you, she expresses it in a mild but assertive way that you will get the message without being hurt..
My mother often wanted me closer to sister Bioye because my mother knew she was very protective of me, and so was her darling husband too.
I took advantage of this aspect of her to have my way often. I would get away with telling sister Bioye my piece of mind on things I would not dear say to her younger siblings. I knew that if I overstepped my bound the worst was she would tell me so calmly.
We were all close, but there were times sister Bioye stood out to do more than the rest not just for me, but for each one of us.
When my mother went on Hajj, in 1970, I was still in school at the time...my mother told me sister Bioye provided her with more funds to ease the journey. This was out of her salary which at that time barely left her any pleasures. But she knew what each person needed and provided it at a great cost to her own pleasure.
In my final year in school, sister Bioye gave me additional "pocket money" that other members of the family were unaware of.
Her husband was soooo protective of her. They were in love until he breathed his last. And I thought she would not be able to live on after his death, but God was great.
She saw everything good in all people, including her children. I am happy that all her children turned out good.
It amounts to stating the obvious to say that already I am missing my darling sister, sister Bioye. The one I would confidently tell whatever was on my mind.
I pray God be supportive of her children, her grandchildren and more just as she was supportive of all people.
Audie my sister, Abioye Adunni as fundly called by our mothers (the Twins)

This tribute is on behalf of Unilag Estate Residents Association (Women’s Wing)
Mama Orimoloye as fondly called by members of our great association, lived a fulfilled life. She was our super elder. She was unassuming and treated all members as equals.
Mama was caring and with great sense of belonging. A great nurse at University of Lagos Health Centre in those days. She had magical hands at giving injections without pains.
Her contributions to the association were immense, without doubt we will miss her.
She never wavered in paying her dues as at and when due. This contributes to our reaching out to the less privileged every year and in taking care of our super elders.
The association commiserates with the entire family, especially Ms. Banke Orimoloye who held forte for her siblings, taking care of mama day and night.
We pray that our God will console and uphold you.
Our dear Mama Orimoloye SUN RE O.
Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her,
May the Souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen.

Tribute: Madam Roseline Abisoye Orimoloye.

Mama lived her life for Humanity.

Caring for people who needed medical help was something Mama passionately did for many decades. Even in retirement, Mama extended her caring hands to friends, relatives and people in her community.

Her acts of kindness and generosity knew no bound. Mama was not only concerned about the wellbeing of her immediate family but also everybody that came her way - Mama gave out to people she knew and those she knew not.

Mama will be greatly missed by everybody who had met her because her words of advice are words of inspiration and motivation.

Our loss is Heaven's gain: An Angel has indeed joined the Saints, triumphantly.

Sleep well, Mama!

I wish to admonish you children of Mrs. Rosaline Abioye (Adunni) Orimoloye to carry the banner of your mother's legacy high.
To the best of my knowledge of her, your mum (my sister) is acclaimed a good woman by all and sundry - Her patients, her colleagues at work, her students when she was a teacher, and her classmates (I know two of them, Alhaja Ramota Amao and Mrs........) all have similar things to say about her humility, kindness and love for all.
She was married to a man who can hardly be claimed to have supported the extent of her own religiosity at the beginning of their relationship. Patiently, prayerfully, consistently she won him to her side with whole-hearted love and devotion to family values. And so, she was able to maintain her family's religiosity not by hook nor by crook.
She raised her children in prayers to the admiration of everyone around her. And we thank God that not none of her children is backward by every measure.
She was a very good child to her parents, extended family members and other relatives. Bioye was on the lips of every member of the family on both sides of her parentage, whether far or near.
Such a legacy must be well printed on the mind of all of you her children. I pray God ease the task for each one of you.

Tribute to Mrs Abioye Orimoloye
Mrs Abioye Orimoloye was a special specie, a loving, kind-hearted and generous woman.
We thank God for her life of profound humility and kindness to humanity, unalloyed dedication to God’s services and the purity of her heart. Her generosity knew no bounds as nobody left her house empty-handed and neither did she visit anybody empty-handed. Even during her failing health, these uncommon character traits never ebbed. We recall that she once visited us on wheel-chair to our utter embarrassment. And, not only did she come (with all the inconsistencies), she also came, as usual, with a basket of fruits for us as well as a pack of goodies for the grandchildren. Thus, even in her period of incapacity, she never stopped being thoughtful and showing empathy. She is a rare breed and, indeed, a priceless gift of God to mankind.
Whence comes another loving Abioye? We will no doubt miss her ever ready offer of assistance as well as her ceaseless prayers and untainted good wishes and love to all and sundry. Without any iota of doubt or reservation, it can be said that in her life time, Abioye represented to many, the very best friend any one could ever hope to have in this world.
Adieu ever loving and caring woman. As you bade this world good bye, we wish you a safe abode in God’s temple for which you tiredly worked and fully dedicated your earthly life.
May your kind and gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen

My darling Aunty Bioye was one of the kindest, most loved God-fearing woman of the Catholic faith I have ever known. Her endearing way of calling all of us 'my dear' in almost every sentence was her way of showing her love for her children and many of us - her extended aburos. As my guardian when my parents were out of the country, she was my second mother teaching me how to read the rosary and pray to the Holy Mary despite my Anglican faith. I still say this in prayers today.
We thank God for her life and all she did for us.
She will be in our hearts forever.
Sleep on till the day we meet to part no more Aunty. We love you but God loves you more.

The death of Mrs Rosaline Abioye Orimoloye was a shock to all in the Orimoloye family. To the entire family Mrs Rosaline Abioye Orimoloye was one of the best wives the family has ever had.
During her lifetime she was known to us as a pleasant, friendly, Godly and a caring woman.
As our wife, she held fervently to our culture. She respected every member of the family, irrespective of age or social status. Of course she was assertive, yet jovial and we all respected her for these fine, distinctive qualities.
The whole family will miss her friendship and enthusiasm as a member of our large family. The whole Orimoloye family both at home and abroad will sadly miss this woman of great virtue. We all pray that God Almighty grants her eternal rest and may her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.

Mummy Orimoloye was very dear to me. She made me feel cherished. She fondly called me Iyaniwura as my grandma (her mother) suddenly named me towards the end of her life. I have fond memories of her visits to our house as a child. She almost always brought specially made stew and all sorts of fish from Lagos.
Her love for children and sense of motherhood was unquantifiable. I remember when my mum had to care for my sister's baby while my sister was out of the country doing her masters, mummy Orimoloye offered to come and teach my mum how to take care of the bottles to be used.

When I got married and relocated to Lagos, we became closer. She showed me and my husband even more love than ever before. She was interested in our professional development and frequently called to ask after us without leaving out any of my siblings. She made it a sense of duty to attend my children's naming ceremony until she could no more, because of the realities of age.
I am fond of her and will definitely miss her.

Mummy Orimoloye is my mum's older sister and by extension a mum to us. My siblings and I have many fond memories of the times we had with her. The earliest memories of Lagos we have were those times we went to spend our holidays in Obalende. We all remember her as a loving and kind aunty. As young as we were she would remind us to pray as our mother expected us to, even though she was herself a Christian. Our home and wardrobes were filled with gifts from her. I remember how she took good care of my grandmother (her mother). She tended to her every need and spoke so pleasantly to her everytime. She was present at different milestones and celebrations in our home. We all marvel at her piety, generosity and kind demeanor, her gentle nature was apparent to all. She was our mother's confidant and our family will really miss her.

Equanimity is the word. You couldn't have been better described as even a casual observer would not be in doubt that yours was an accommodating spirit.

Your presence blessed wherever you went with a calmness that showered love. It didn't matter what the nature of the conversation was, my dear were always your choice words of endearment. Our parents called you Sister Bioye. And as I lived with Alhaja (your mother) in Ìtoko during my student days in Abeokuta, I was by extension also known as Ọmọ'ya Bioye. You were Mummy Obalende in our household.

Your words were spoken in a volume and confidence of one who possessed peaceful insight. And none who interacted with you felt less than human after they left your presence. You accorded honor to one's humanity

You shall be fondly remembered for your gentility, wisdom and prayerful counseling

My Aunty
My Auntie the late Mrs Abioye Orimoloye nee Folarin was a woman of decency and good conscience. As the eldest of the four sisters brought into the world by My Grandmother, the Late Alhaja Taiwo Abudu, she came fully prepared for the tasks that the role would bestow on her in all ways possible in that she was a great role model for all of her sisters and ensured they all did meaningful things with their lives.
Her leadership of her side of the Folarin family ensured her sisters became well qualified in their chosen field of profession. The moment she got into Nursing from my gathering, she started paving the way for the others to follow suit and join her in the UK in order to pursue the same course and to ensure that any difficulty she might have faced while studying were avoided by her sisters. In guiding all her sisters ,she did not do so with a one track mind in the sense that her youngest sister who probably had no liking for the blood and drama of nursing opted for Economics and she was also well encouraged to complete the course, I guess with the same attention the other three sisters received.
Auntie’s strongest point was that she was all accommodating and always very interesting to listen to She had the right advice whatever your situation and she also had the right words to roll you back into sensible ways whenever you were going badly wrong which for most boys my age at that time was commonplace.
Whenever she visited while I was young, she was keen to know about how you were faring in school and what you hoped to become in life which at that time for every young boy was a footballer. The response though rather not very ambitious was accepted by her with a view that you would one day wise up to face the realities of life or as a religious person which she was, gave you further advice about the necessary parts of the bible you need to familiarise yourself with. My memory of her is one of accommodating all sorts crazy ambitions I regaled her with without her surprisingly losing her temper (I would have in those situations considering the amount of money parents shelled out on school fees).
How could one ever forget her numerous visits to Ibadan with all manner edible goodies for everyone in the family. The moment you saw her vehicle as a young boy growing up, you knew you were in for all sorts of treats that your measly pocket money couldn’t buy you no matter how many years you tried to save for. Visiting her in Lagos was also an unforgettable experience in terms of the high grade(most 5* hotels couldn’t compete) hosting you got from her and the further spoiling you got from her mum as a grand mum (the spoiler in chief).
To know my auntie is to know a very loving and accommodating human being whatever the flaws you might carry as a human being. In all my dealing with her, I have never experienced a situation in which she lost her temper and became unpleasant to anyone, she was a soul of a special kind who ensured that anyone around her got all the attention she could give and more. When she was at fault for anything either to the young and the old she would be the first to offer an apology irrespective of her place in that setting.
My dear Auntie, may you rest in perfect peace and enjoy the well-deserved company of the lord in the world beyond. On behalf of everyone present here today, we thank you for giving us the chance to share in your wonderful life well lived and all the contributions you have made in our lives.
Rest in peace Ma.

I lost a jewel of a sister. From the date I met her 50 years ago as a fiancé of her kid-sister, she never gave me a cause to regret my association with her. She was very pleasant. A sister in a million to me and my wife. We learnt a lot from her as a mother and a wife.
“Sister Agba” was the epitome of love, care, patience, forbearance and all that was good in a sister. I make bold to assert that she will be missed by everyone who ever came her way.
A woman of deep faith, sister really earned her place in the boson of her Lord and Saviour. May her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, grant her the highest station in Paradise.
Adieu till resurrection day.

By some facts of history, Mrs. Rosaline Abioye Orimoloye, my eldest sister, happens to be a lot older than I am. She is in fact, old enough to be my mother (17+ years older than I am is no joke). And now, by her passing away, I lose the shoulder I have leaned on since my mother's death.
She was my mother's first child and I am the last. A very big question I have pondered over my adult life is - "What haven't I enjoyed from her?"
I first knew her as my caregiver when I was a toddler, then graduated to being my mentor and role model. I very much aspired to be like her.
Whenever I went on holidays in her home, I read her religious books and pamphlets that got me interested in loving God and learning more about God. I grew up seeing her pray a lot and I wanted to be like her in my own way.
As a student in UNILAG, I was never lonely because her being at the UNILAG Health Centre was an assurance for me that I was not alone. Nobody in the family knew she gave me monthly "pocket money" when I was in UNILAG because she didn't want me to lack anything.
She was the one I could open my mind to, and indeed the one I was closest to.
Though she was a Christian and I am a Muslim, she was tolerant, understanding and always supportive of my faith and of my family.
She became big mum to my children, who refer to her as mummy. They have fond memories of spending school holidays with her in Lagos and of her very many kind and loving gestures.
The pureness of her heart gave her a gentle and kind disposition to all people and to all things. Many people have commented about her kindness and gentle disposition since her passing away.
Goodnight sister agba, Abioye Adunni, omo Taiwo Esuu, I will miss you forever.

My dearest and irreplaceable sister. There is no other one compared with you, you are unique in everything. You taught me how to be a practicing Catholic. I share CWO with you, you shared the Guild of St Anthony of Padua with me and I shared Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary with you. The Rosary, you taught me should be our daily partner, you prayed it to the end.
As a teenager, I lived with you. I learnt a lot from you in your quiet ways. Your kindness is known everywhere by both young and old. You are so much concerned about my family and we all realised it.
My dearest sister, I love you dearly and we shall miss you. Eternal rest grant unto you and may light perpetual rest and shine upon you, Amen.

Farewell my dearest sister. It only seems like yesterday when we were all kids growing up in the compound of our wonderful father, Chief Adebesin Folarin at Orile Itoko in Abeokuta, under the watchful eyes of our mother, the late Alhaja Taiwo Asanatu Abudu.
All those times you stood out prominently, like the big sister you were, right from a very early age, and you were in no doubt as to what your responsibilities were as the most senior amongst us.
When it came to education you did everything to ensure that we were always on the straight and narrow path in order to ensure that we did make something of our young lives. For this, we are very grateful to you and will continue to remember you in all we do, as it is through your inspiration that our mother was able to deliver three fully qualified nurses, and an Economist (the baby of us all).
Further on in life, you were always delighted to meet our partners who later became our husbands and all our children that followed. All our children love and cherish you to no end and the look on their faces any time they knew you were coming to visit was that of sheer delight and love at meeting an aunty once again who would go to no end to spoil them rotten.
Your deep reservoir of knowledge meant that you had an answer for every problem and your advice was always spot on. Your encouragement to all our children when it came to their studies could not be said to be light, as your advice and words of encouragement in that area did wonders to those of them that were slacking up sometimes in their studies.
Your home was a paradise of sumptuous dishes to look forward to any time we were around to see you and your late husband, Pa Patrick Orimoloye, who also departed this world shortly before you.
My dear egbon, knowing you, growing up with you, and benefiting from your fountain of knowledge all through my life is an experience I wouldn’t give away for anything in this world. Your passing is already having a profound effect on everyone lucky enough to have met you in your youth and your old age.
On behalf of your surviving relatives, we thank you heartily for everything you have done for us that is your selflessness, kindness and leadership at all times.
May your kind and gentle soul rest in peace and light perpetual shine on you until the resurrection when we will meet to part no more.
Sun re O omo Babe Folarin!

Farewell my beloved sister.

Tribute To A lovely Grandma
Hmmm... This inevitable visitor has come again but we thank God it was for good this time.
It has come to take a woman to her glorious home.
It has come to give her the rest she deserves.
Grandma, what a life well spent.
I recall the stories told about you. How you loved when it seemed you shouldn't. How you still disciplined your children even when they were grown. Even when you were old I still saw the generosity you had towards others. Ha! What a rare gem.
Your departure was really a sad one for me but the joy that consoled my heart was that one day by the grace of God we shall surely meet again in heaven.
Goodbye Grandma,

Tribute To My Grandma
When I heard of your departure, I asked if it was a lie because it was such a shock.
I will miss you a lot, your care, smile, laughter and even your scolding.
I will miss baking cakes for you and the way your face lights up when you see them.
Who will I spend my Christmas holidays with?
I love you so much Grandma.
Till we meet to part no more.

Our love for grandma cannot be described in these few words. She played a big part in our childhood and we can remember so many times we were corrected on the right way to either wash, do chores or even pick beans. She taught us the value of work and these lessons, we would always hold dear to our hearts. We will miss you Grandma but we know that your spirit and strength, lives on in each of us and in the lives that you have touched and we are comforted that you are now resting in the Bossom of our dear father in heaven.

We Love you grandma – You truly are a special, special woman! You may have passed on, but your memories would always live on within us. Thank you for your sacrifices, your care and your constant love.

Rest in Peace Grandmother, we would miss you. We love you grandma.

Tribute to Grandma

Our Grandma was an exceptional woman. Her faithfulness to God and devotion to his Commandments were unparalleled. She was a true angel.

She was also an extraordinarily generous person. When Grandma looked after two of us (Nifemi and Folarin) while our mum was at law school, she would spoil us with treats, including ogi and boiled egg. It earned Folarin the nickname ‘orobo’, which our mum still calls him to this day.

Whenever we spoke she never failed to remind us to be obedient to our parents, say our rosary and go to Church. Her closeness to God was an example for us all, and one we will pass on to our children. That was without doubt the greatest gift that she gave to us.

Grandma’s long and accomplished career as a healthcare professional, and her father’s illustrious career in the law, served – and continues to serve - as an inspiration for each of us in our respective careers. We aspire to achieve even a fraction of the successes that they did.

Grandma – you will be sorely missed. But our hearts are full in the knowledge that you are now with Our Lord, alongside your loving husband and all your other family members who have gone before you and who you loved.

We love you very much and miss you.

Until we meet again.

Tribute to a loving Mother-in-law, a rare gem - Mrs Abioye Roseline Orimoloye.

When devout women are taken away, it is difficult to us to understand that the righteous are taken away to be spared from evil. The bible says “ Those who walk uprightly enter into peace and they find rest as they lie in death” – Isaiah 57: 1-2. Indeed it is painful that you have crossed over but mummy you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith; and according to God’s word, from now on there is locked up for you a crown of righteousness.

Mama you were loving and caring, a very special woman of God, a woman of faith, a mum-in-law full of wisdom, a mum-in-law in whose tongue lies the law of kindness.

Your natural kindness, the richness in your laughter/smile and most importantly, your inspirational legacy will forever be my sweet memories of you. ADIEU MAMA!

TRIBUTE TO MY SECOND MUM.
A loving, caring and accommodating mother. You had so large and roomy a heart that you accommodate all without discrimination; your hospitality is matchless; even total strangers are beneficiaries of your kindness. You are good to both young and old; male and female; all and sundry.
Any time I visit, you will keep pressing that I should be served food even when you have not eaten. Your constant caring slogan "SE O WA OKAY" (hope you are fine) to me will linger on in my heart. You were so caring Mummy.
During one of my last visits, you held my hand in your room and refused to let go when you realised I was about to leave. You told me to move into your home with my family so we could be closer to you. It took me some time to sneak out.
Mummy, I miss you but I am comforted that we shall still meet at the feet of Christ. Rest on Ma!

You had such a kind heart. You loved everyone dearly and cared for everyone around you deeply. I was really blessed to have shared the last 29 years with you in my life.

I believe God saw you getting tired and took you with him to a better place. You’ll forever remain special in my heart.

The first time I met mummy was in 1994. Sola and I had a routine of attending Daily Mass whilst in law school. We ended up going to her parents on a Friday evening and the rest is history.
Mummy was so loving in her interaction with me and the love continued and remained when I became her daughter in law. We always had a running joke about Gboyega "leaving me". Her favourite words to me were "congratulations my dear". She was more of a mother than a mother in law. Her prayers for my family, her grandchildren and I were a constant. She is truly missed but I am consoled by the fact that she was a woman of great faith. My heart is warmed by the hope that she is receiving sweet succor from the Blessed Mother. Rest in peace dear Mummy, Amen

I was gutted that you did not wait for me to come and see you before departing from this life. My consolation is that OUR LADY, Mother of our Lord Jesus Christ was with you at the hour of your DEATH – why? Because you advocated for the Holy Rosary all your life and you said the Rosary every day!
After I received the call “Jide mum is GONE”, I could not process the news until I started receiving condolence calls…. calls were coming from all over the world, people were sharing their stories of how you had helped them spiritually, emotionally, physically and financially.
People paying tributes with these words, YOUR MUM, was an amazing woman, she was very good to me, she had a kind heart, she saved me. This last one did touch me – and this was from a friend who said, “I can only compare your MUM to Mother Theresa”.

Mum, you were an exceptional woman, who lived a remarkable life. Memories of the love you showed me, and your good deeds will remain with me forever. Charity played a major part of your life. You never stopped giving care, love, money, advice and support to all.
Mummy, I love you, I admire you, I respect you and I salute you and will always remain grateful and humble. You served your family, the church, the community and the society well and I promise to carry on the good deeds and examples you left behind. You showed me faith, hope and love by example.
Your voice and sweet words still play in my memory…. BABA please stop drinking and please don’t smoke it’s not good for your health, BABA make sure you go for medical check-up regularly, even after I graduated, BABA how is studies please my dear don’t work too hard.
I still remember our routine growing up at a very young age, after our 6am daily prayers of the Rosary, we would get ready and go to Mass, after weekday Mass every day you would start home visit from Church until we get home, before Sunday Mass, you will go to a dozen prayer group meeting, some before Mass and the rest after Mass, after Sunday Mass, you would continue your home visit from Church until we get home.
Your dedication remained the same during my primary school days. As the youngest of your children and the only one left in primary school, you would drive me in your SUBARU after school to Atan cemetery to tidy and pray by the graves of your aunties and other relatives we would then visit other elderly family members including your late mother’s twin, taking gifts.
I still remember your handwriting, how you’d tell me to hold my book with my left hand and write with my right, I remember your address book and the phone calls you’d make calling to checkup on family, relatives, friends asking after their wellbeing.
Thank you, MUM,
Thank you, for loving me
Thank you, for caring for me
Thank you, for protecting me
Thank you, for teaching and sharing your faith with me
Mum, you loved people, you cared for people and you loved God whole heartedly
Mum, you showed and spread the love
Mum, you are LOVE
LOVE lives on

Poem for my mum
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine.
And He moulded her heart of pure gold.
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses, you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that mother to me

Tribute to my Mum
Each time I come visiting, and I tell you....it's me Yemi...you would say ...se Yemi Aworeni???...this gives me a unique kind of pleasure, triggered by you, always attaching my name to that of my husband. You don't see me as one but 2 in 1.
So amazing that you say that to ONLY me.
I studied you and discovered that the secret of a happy home lies in GOD, LOVE and PERSEVERANCE.
Shortly before your departure, you asked me where my Mum was...and I asked...which one; you said the real MOTHER...I said it's you...but you laughed.
Little did I know that you were indirectly telling me GOODBYE.
Against all odds, you waited for me that evening of your departure to bid me FAREWELL...JUST YOU AND I and you slipped away quietly without me noticing it.
This just set a SEAL on my heart that your love for me is quite UNIQUE...this I appreciate and will ensure I keep making you proud.
All thanks to God for giving me a MOTHER like you...NICE TO A FAULT.
LOVE YOU LOADS...sunn re o Mama mi.
See you at Jesus' feet, where we shall part.

Her Life

BIOGRAPHY - Mrs. Rosaline Abioye Orimoloye (Nee Folarin Williams) 18 September 1933 – 16 April 2021

June 26, 2021
Late Mrs Rosaline Abioye Orimoloye (Nee Folarin Williams) was born in Itoko, Abeokuta on 18 September 1933 into the Williams family. Her father, Late Chief Judge Adebesin Folarin was an indigen of Abeokuta and her mother Madam Aurelia Taiwo Folarin hailed from Ayobo in Agege.  Many years after the death of her father, her mother married into the Abudu family of Abeokuta and became Alhaja Taiwo Abudu.

Her grandfather was the great Zachariah Archibald Williams, a prominent Pan Africanist who played a vital role in establishing close cooperation between many African countries. He was also a palm oil and coffee merchant with a solid business base in Sierra-Leone, the UK and other parts of the world, and was one of the four original African representatives on the Lagos Chamber of Commerce when it was founded in 1888. He was the editor of the Lagos Standard.

Her father graduated from law school in England and was called to the English Bar at Middle Temple alongside his close friends Adeyemo and Olayimika Alakija on 16 April 1913. He was later appointed the first legal administrator of the Western Region. Following years of practice, he rose to the position of president of the highest Court in Egbaland and was granted the Chieftaincy titles of Bobajiro (Oba‘s adviser) and Otunbaloye of Igbore. He wrote several law books, some of which are reference books in the British Library and Harvard and Yale Law Schools. He published the first ever monthly law journal in the Western region in additional to a monthly newspaper called ‘The Egba National Harper’. He was a great mentor to many, including his nephew Late Chief FRA Williams and a ‘go to’ person for most Egba elites who wanted their children to explore the legal profession. Up to his death on 04 October 1949, he held the title of the Apesin of Abeokuta.

Mama had 5 older siblings, namely Mrs Bolajoko Majekodunmi, Mrs Titilola Akinyemi, Mr Olaolu Folarin, Mr Adebayo Folarin and Mrs Agbeke Henshaw all of blessed memory. Mama also has three younger sisters namely, Chief Mrs Ijiola Ogun, Mrs Olatokewa Giwa and Mrs Sururat Adebimpe Oyero, all whom she loved so much and shared a very close bond with until her passing.

Mama started her education at St Peters Clevers Convent School, Itesi Abeokuta under the leadership of Late Sister Peter and Sister Dunstand. There, she obtained her Grade 2 Certificate. At the Convent she developed a deep love for the Lord and considered following a religious vocation. However, life became challenging when her father fell ill and subsequently passed away on 04 October 1949. She was aged 16 at the time. Despite this, she continued her education at Nazareth Teachers Training College in Ibowon, Ijebu Ode for two years and obtained the Teachers Elementary Certificate in 1951.

Mama’s passion for caring led her to a career in nursing. She attended nursing school at PTS, Eleyele Ibadan to start her training. From there she was posted to Sacred Heart Hospital where she met her sweetheart Patrick Oluwole Orimoloye for the first time. After a period of study at Eleyele and inspired by her older sisters who had established successful careers in nursing and hat making in England, she left Nigeria to further her career in Nursing in the United Kingdom.

Shortly after she arrived in London, she was faced with a serious health challenge and after spending much time in hospital, she was discharged home for palliative care. According to her, she intensified her recitation of the rosary every day and patiently waited for the Lord to send the angels to get her. However, she made a miraculous recovery and was able to return to her studies.

She moved to Folkstone in Kent to continue her career in nursing at the Royal Victoria Hospital where she graduated with a ‘SRN’ qualification in 1962. She later obtained a further qualification in Midwifery in June 1964.

Mama worked at Lambeth Hospital London (now known as St Thomas’ Hospital) for two years and her role included teaching medical students how to deliver babies. During her time there, she won the Florence Nightingale award for best performance in a cardiac arrest competition.

She met Mr Patrick Orimoloye again in England, they fell in love and got engaged in 1960. They got married on the 3rd of November 1962 at St Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Peter Avenue, Willesden Green, London. Their union is blessed with six children and 17 grandchildren some of which are Engineers, Doctor, healthcare professionals and a Lawyer. Mama was very fond of her grandchildren and always had words of advice for them. Mama and her husband aka ‘my dear’ were happily married for 54 years before death did them part when her husband slept in the Lord on 15th August 2016.

Upon mama’s return to Nigeria, she secured a job at the Island Maternity Hospital Lagos as Staff Nurse and Midwife. The hospital at the time was one of the busiest maternity hospitals in Nigeria. She worked tirelessly under difficult circumstances to bring thousands of babies safely into the world.

She moved on to the role of Staff Nurse at the University of Lagos Health Centre in 1972. She rose to the position of Principal Nursing sister and retired from the University service in 1989. She subsequently returned to the United Kingdom where she worked for a few years before her final retirement in 1991. Mama encouraged and helped many of her colleagues at Unilag Health center to relocate to the UK with their families to continue their nursing career

Mama’s husband’s role as the National Secretary and Chief Executive of the Nigerian Red Cross Society at the time involved a lot of travels around the world. On the many occasions that her husband was away in Geneva, the Philippines, the UK and other parts of the world on official assignments, mama stood firm and kept the home. This includes the period of his absence to head relief operations during the Nigerian Civil war.

Mama was a good example of a virtuous woman described in proverbs 31: 10-31

A virtuous woman and capable wife, more precious than rubies….her husband could trust her, and she greatly enriched his life…she brought him good not harm all the days of her life…she got up before dawn to prepare breakfast for her household and planned the day’s work….she made sure her dealings were profitable …O Lord, reward her for all she has done and let her deeds publicly declare her praise’.

Mama loved the Lord and the Immaculate Conception with a passion. From her early years, she was a devout Catholic that took the word of God seriously. She actually had the intention of becoming a reverend sister but later realised it was not her calling. She won many souls for the Lord in her spouse vocation, probably more than she would have in a convent. She was a great advocate of the beautiful prayer of the rosary and encouraged many people to recite the rosary. The Lord showered her with many graces and her grace of patience can only be classed as ‘heavenly’. She was a channel of peace. She belonged to many Church societies at St Michael’s Catholic Church Lafiaji, Christ The King Catholic Church, Ilasamaja and at St Benjamin Catholic Church, Olowora she belonged to the following societies: St Anthony, Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Catholic Women’s Organisation. She was an active member and supported the Church in every way she could.

All who knew mama knew her as passionate about God, children and high moral standards, so it was not a surprise when she became a teacher at St Peters Clever School at Itesi Abeokuta where she taught English Language and Home Economics.

Mama was a very kind, humble, peaceful, unassuming human being whom the Lord showered with many graces. Her grace of patience was unbelievable and ‘heavenly’. She never bore a grudge and would always repay evil with good. She encouraged everyone around her to do the same. She was a channel of peace.

Mama touched so many lives both young and old, she was an inspiring soul who was always there for all who came to her with their problems. She genuinely shared in people’s joy and pain and always had those words of consolation and wise counsel for those with troubled minds. Apart from her biological children, she was a mother to so many and assisted with their education and wellbeing. She was a selfless giver who shared all she had with those in need without expecting anything in return. She was always so grateful to all who cared for her in her old age. Mama spent a lot of time visiting and caring for elderly relatives and friends and also showered them with gifts and other necessities for their wellbeing.

Though Mrs Orimoloye has been called to heaven to meet the Lord whom she loved and devoted her whole life to, the days will pass and turn into years but she will always be remembered for her unique ability to radiate love and happiness to whosoever she came into contact with. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace, Amen.
