Roy and Dode moved into Providence Point, Issaquah, about the same time we did. Roy was always smiling and sharing stories about history. His love for Dode and family also came shining through. One of my favorite times was when Roy started singing I COME TO THE GARDEN ALONE. We ended up singing a duet.
Dode and I shared similar situations. I am honored to call her friend.
Prayers for her and family, Peter & Lois

Dode and family, Thanks for the nice picture and tribute. I know he is in a better place, even though he is missed. What a guy. I love the way that he shared his fushia plants. I still have those that he gave me. Under the house in the winter and blooming their brains out in the summer. Thanks for being my friend Roy.

Roy Earl Eastman Jr. OBITUARY

Over the course of his 90 years, Roy meant so much to so many. He was a loyal son and caring brother. He was a devoted husband to Dode, his wife of 62 years; a loving father to Bert, Lynne, Scott and Sue; and a proud grandpa of six grandsons and two great grandchildren. He was a faithful Christian and a steadfast friend to many. He served his country as a code breaker, courageous soldier, and professional engineer, eventually rising to senior management with the US Bureau of Reclamation. He was a talented vocalist who loved to sing; an intense competitor who loved to win; and an enthusiastic outdoorsman who made catching the biggest fish a lifelong pursuit.  He was a practical jokester, a cunning card shark and a storyteller extraordinaire. At Christmas, he was Santa Claus.

No matter how you knew Roy (or Earl, if you were family) your life was richer for it.  He had an openness and authenticity that is rare today. His smile and twinkling eyes lit up the room.  His laughter was contagious.  In good times and in difficult ones (and he faced many) he was unrelentingly positive. He loved deeply and gave of himself generously. He lived to serve. He never knew a stranger and had a kind word for everyone.

Roy was a genuine hero. So it is fitting that he will be laid to rest at Tahoma National cemetery. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, August 7, 2 pm at VFW Post 5760, 1836 72nd Avenue SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040

Roy and Dode were our wonderful neighbors in Mukilteo, until they moved to Issaquah. We have so many good memories! From tips and help for our yard to the best fishing spots, Roy was always available and ready to lend a hand. Every time it stormed, Roy or Dode would come over to check on us and offer their home if we were without heat. We could never have found better neighbors and more caring friends. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the Eastman family. Roy will always have a very big, special place in our hearts.
