Mr. Roy Fort, 85 year old resident of Whitesville, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Vista Care Hospice at Franciscan Woods in Columbus.

Mr. Fort was born Tuesday, July 21, 1925, in Harris County, Georgia, the son of the late Jeff and Jessie Williams Fort. He was a graduate of Chipley High School in Harris County. Mr. Fort was active member of the Whitesville United Methodist Church. He was a self-employed cattle farmer, had worked at T. J. Beale Company and for Bobby Lanier at Standard Oil Company.

Mr. Fort is preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Fort and a sister and brother-in-law, India and Henry Cook. He is survived by his sister, Martha F. Washington of Huguley, Alabama; nieces and nephews, Marie Allen of Forsyth, Georgia, Charles Cook of Atlanta, Georgia, Betty Noack of Columbus, Georgia, Helen and Tom Cook of Morrow, Georgia, Nancy Ashe of Callhan, Florida, and Larry and Brenda Washington of Huguley, Alabama; several great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Whitesville United methodist Church, in care of Shirley Talley, 16245 Highway 219, West Point, Georgia, 31833.
