Roy Sherman Oakley, 84, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Person Memorial Hospital in Roxboro.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late William P. and Mittie T. Oakley. Roy was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Rougemont and farmed most of his life.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford. Burial will be in Community Gardens in Stem.

He is survived by his daughter, Cathy Tingen of Roxboro; sister, Della Mae Williams of Stem; brother, Elvin Oakley of Stem; grandsons, Kendall Mangum, Shane Mangum, Brandon Tingen; great-grandchildren, Jake Tingen, Shane Tingen, Joslynn Mangum, Brooke Mangum, McKenzie Mangum and a great-great granddaughter, Brynlee Tingen and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded death by his wife, Doris O. Oakley; daughter, Wanda Mangum; son, Roy Darnell Oakley; sister, Janie Oakley and brothers, J.W. and Leaman Oakley.

Visitation will be held Monday evening March 5, 2018 from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at his home.
