Fond memories

February 9, 2015

I wasn't able to attend the homegoing services for Aunt Ruby; however, my thoughts were with the family.
Here are a few fond memories of Aunt Ruby and Uncle Tootta (Ernest). When Daddy, James Gaither, used to ride his motorcycle, he would visit his brother in Columbus. The ride was long. When he finally arrived to Aunt Ruby and Uncle Tootta's house, they were always so happy to see us. Aunt Ruby could sense I was tired and hungry from the ride on Dad's motorcycle. Aunt Ruby would prepare a sandwich and place to nap.
Another fond memory was when the entire family came down for the day in the summer. I don't remember much because I was young. I remember the family walking to an open field to play softball. I remember walking with mom, Ruby, and Aunt Ruby to the field and they were going to play soft ball too. As a child, I was trying to wrap my mind around my mom and aunt playing soft ball.
Much love to my Merritt family!!
Sincerely,
Percitia Grant (Merritt)
