As the curtain closes on a life well spent I hope that when you remember your dad you will remember the good times you had, or the funny things he'd say. May his soul rest in eternal peace as you cherish the wonderful memories.
Wishing the Davis family God’s richest and continuous blessings.

Our deepest condolences to the Davis family.
Ruel known as Cleavy was a friend of mine from our youthful days.

How does one say goodbye to a friend for so many years? Although that friend may not be corporally present, his memory lives on forever. There are people in our lives who leave an increasable impression on us long after they are no longer with us. Ruel is one such person.

Lord thou hast been our dwelling place in all generation. Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art God. Psalms 90 1-2

To the immediate bereaved family, Our prayers goes out to you from Dr. Bishop Astley Stewart and family U.S.A.

Mr. Davis was a man of gentle demeanor. He was a loving husband, father and friend. Kind, caring and hardworking are other attributes he possessed. As it is written in Genesis 3 and verse 19,"By the sweat of your brow you shall eat bread. " This verse endorsed the hardworking individual he was. He worked assiduously to ensure his family's needs were met ,not only his immediate family but extended family and friends benefited from his hard work as well.

I can remember vividly his favourite question to me when I visited his home,he would say "yuh alright?" followed by his bright smile. He wanted to make sure I was comfortable and I was ok. He was also great cook and his meals were always yummy.

I admired the relationship he had with his family .The bond they shared was remarkable. The seed you sow that you shall also reap has reflected his life. The same love and care he extended to his family was also shown to him especially during his illness. They were never too busy to attend to his needs. They supported him wholeheartedly.

I know this a difficult time for the family but I am encouraging you to hold on to God's unchanging hand. May He continue to comfort and strengthen you all. I know his precious memories will be etched in your minds forever. May the soul of Mr.Davis rest in eternal peace.

A TRIBUTE TO OUR BROTHER

“My name is Mr. R. R. Davis!” As a child, this is how he would respond when anyone asked him his name - of which he was very proud. Ruel Radcliffe Davis was “a little gentleman,” respected and loved by his family and the community at large. Affectionately called “Clevey,” our brother was adored and cherished, by his siblings, other family members, and friends. After our father and eldest brother immigrated to England, and although very young himself, he assumed the role of father which he played well, and was therefore very protective of his sisters. His role became even more distinct after the death of our mother.

We have many fond memories of our time growing up as kids together, “up a yard.” These special childhood memories will always bring smiles to our faces. Many nights we would sit together on the verandah and sing gospel songs, play games, tell stories or just give jokes, laughing so loudly like we didn’t have a care in the world. He was so jovial and always in high spirits that whenever he was around, there was never a sad moment.

We admire how knowledgeable and astute he was in his business and social interactions, and his thought process in constructing, stating, and firmly defending his opinions on any subject matter. Sometimes this firmness was construed as stubbornness, however, he was usually on target. We were so proud of “Mr. R.R. Davis” when he started working as a fireman at the Savlamar Fire Brigade Station and was even more proud when he was promoted through the ranks to District Officer. He looked so stately in his uniform, commanding the respect and love of his family and friends.

For those of us living in the United States, it was always a joy returning to Jamaica on vacations to a welcoming environment where he made provisions to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable visit. As recently as last year (2022) on our last visit, he prepared some of the best-known Jamaican dishes for us. These include Curried Goat, Manish Water and Cow’s Feet, to name a few. He was always so giving. Oh, how we’re going to miss him. Life will never be the same as another link has been taken from our chain. Yet we are comforted that one day we will all be together again where we will never say goodbye.

When family ties are broken and loved ones have to part, it leaves a wound that never heals, but looking back at the memories upon the path we walk, we bless the years we had with you and leave the rest to God.

Our brother, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure, but rest in peace, your pleasant memories will forever be in our hearts, in your own special place.

To Our Dear Nephew Clevey

We are sorry that you had to leave us so soon, but this is the unfortunate road that we all have travel. However, on your departure from us we will always remember all of the good times we had and all that you have given to us.

You were one of those kids who was very mischievous (give me a hard time) and I had to “drop some lick pon you.” After I left Jamaica for a few years and returned to Jamaica. You looked at me and said “Uncle you can’t lick me again I’m a BIG MAN NOW.”

On every occasion when we visited from England, you were always there to pick up my wife and me from the airport. With your undivided love for us and others, you were like an outstanding Samaritan, who was always there to help others in need. God knows who he was receiving when He took you, a man with the biggest heart of love for others.

We will miss you dearly. May you rest in power and peace with the love of God.

Daddy Our Hero

A father so loving, kind and caring, who could ask for more. You dear dad was indeed our hero. A father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and a community stalwart. A man of humility who displayed love to everyone.
You cared for us in a special way; always being there ever so protective,
wanting to make sure that we were safe and provided for.

We thank you for the good values and attitudes that you have instilled in us. You taught us the value of hard work in achieving goals. Even though you had your regular job as a firefighter we recall how early in the mornings you would be up to care for your animals and tend to the farm before heading off for work.

At the end of your work shift we were ever so happy when we hear your bike coming, whatever we were doing as kids, we would stop and hasten to meet you. Your face would light up with that beautiful smile as you embraced us.

Family was important to you and you taught us the value of maintaining good family relationships. You loved family time. Our family devotions were special, some of which were called to order by you and you would always sing your favourite song “I’ve Got a Roof Up Above Me”.

You loved to socialize and enjoyed entertaining family and friends; you were an excellent host. Always checking to ensure that everyone was okay and having a good time. We all enjoyed your cooking. Who can forget your big pot of corned pork soup served at family gatherings or when friends were visiting.

Your generosity knew no bounds. The community and your co-workers all benefited. There was nothing that you had that was too good to be shared. You shared produce from your farm, meals, tools and just about anything with anyone who needed your assistance.

It was your greatest joy when we came to visit and all of us were together at home. You would smile and say “mi love when all of us are together” and that contagious laughter of yours would fill the air. You would always let us know how much you appreciated our company and as recent as Christmas 2022 you told us you had a good Christmas and that you loved how we were all together.

You often expressed to us how appreciative you were of our support especially after you got ill. Often times you would say “I have a good family” and just days before you passed you told us “Unu nuh left mi out at all, everyday unu come look fi mi, thanks, thanks”.

Daddy, we thank you for everything that you have done for us, from the beach trips to just playing dominoes. We miss the sound of your voice and the wisdom in your advice. Our hero, words cannot express the void in our hearts not having you here with us. We love you dearly and will always cherish the precious memories we share.

Love Always - Jacqueline, Roan, Shawn, Orphia, O’Dean, Howard, Fredrick, Sydney, Kerisha, Jonnoi, Rashiv, Rohnmarc, Kelci and Fredrian
