He was born at Russell Hospital in Alexander City, Alabama on September 30, 1959 to Rufus and Annie L. Chapman.

He joined Corinth Baptist Church in Kellyton, Alabama at an early age.

He graduated form Goodwater High School in May of 1978. He also attended Central Alabama Community College in Alexander City, Alabama.
He worked at Russell Corporation and several other jobs throughout his life, He had several friends and was loved by many. Rufus Chapman, Jr. of Opelika, Alabama passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at his residence, He leaves to cherish his memories: His parents, Rufus and Annie L, Chapman of Alexander City, AL. Three sisters: Rachel Mae Chapman (Charles) of Dayton, OH; Patricia Ann (David) McKinney of Alexander City, AL; Cynthia L. Thomas of Alexander City, AL. Two brothers: Christopher A Chapman of Sylacauga, AL and Gregory Lynn (Romonda) Chapman of Alexander City, AL, A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
